Just got my Quad Core Phenom 9500+
I have an Asus M2N-E SLI
I flashed the bios to 1108 the latest version
Re-booted into windows to check all was ok

Took out my old chip Athlon 64 3500+
Placed the new chip in
Power up
No beeps no mobo splash screen no nothing

Tried a few times

Took the new chip out put the new old back in
Straight to windows.

I'm guessing this is a dead chip, unless anyone knows of some special case where it doesn't work with the mobo i have???

The only thing I can think of, from having a quick look through the google for any problems is that that PSU simply can't supply the required power to the phenom, it is a large step up from an xp 3500.

the x power seems to be a cheap and cheerful PSU, i'd put money on that being the problem

Its 450W! should be plenty enough. What size PSU would you expect it to need for it to run

Good find, VaderDSL :), OP were did you donwload the 1108 BIOS as the Asus website only shows 1102.

Rob :)

my bad! i have indeed got 1102.

the link to the compatible boards is a strange one. Ive seen the same list on other websites with my board on it.

If you go to Asus website it list the M2N, the M2N-E, the M2N SLI but not mine. hmmmmm

Im going to try taking a graphics card and some other stuff out, see if i can get more power to the CPU

This is officialy a ballache now.

Now my 3500+ worls but it shuts itself off whenver it feels like it. Arrgghghg!

As for as the phenom is concerned, it is either DOA or unsupported on this board, so ill have to send it back. Ill get the black edition 6500+ instead.
