My photo stream/sd card transfer help

hi

Guys do you know if its possible to stop photos automatically transferring to my photo stream on my ipad when I import photos from an sd card using the sd card cable.

Im not sure if I really need them to go onto the photo stream as well as this is using up a lot of icloud space and it also makes it confusing knowing what is a hard copy on the ipad and what photos have been synced across from my pc.

just realised its best to treat photo stream as temporary storage, as that's what it is, I always think of it like a backup but thats not wise.

I realise now that if I delete photos from my photo stream that I imported with the sd card that they only delete from the servers and not from the ipad memory.

*on a side note how comes icloud 3.** for windows is so rubbish for syncing photos?

I have had to install a much older version to fix things, seems its a common issue at least for windows users!
