My 1999 focus which has done me proud over the years i think is starting to see its age and starting to get problems.

I have starting looking into options on getting somthing new and was looking at leasing options.

I like the new focus's and looking at a 1.6 TDCI zetec, i can get it for around a deposit of £1175 and then 36 payments of £139.

This seams like a real good deal to me, ok i know you dont own anything at the end of it but to me looking at what you can buy the 1.6 TDCi at new (£14,000) minus the £6000 i will pay over 3 years.....think the focus will be worth less then £8000 in 3 years time?

Also what else should i look out for with leasing?

I have found the 1.6 to be gutless for a diesel, if you can stretch to the 1.8 its much better performance.

What's wrong with it?

Just general stuff, i lowered it when i first had it and wish i never did.....it EATs tyres.

And just gen stuff, think the coil pack has just gone and there are a couple other little bit a bobs. Call me strange but i like stuff working and when things start going wrong i just like to get out......i know every car has its problems :)

Also being a 2L it costs £190 if i remember right in road tax.

Being a 1999 car, it could be a 1.6, a 2.0 or an 8.0, It would still cost the same in road tax, until 2001 its only when it gets under 1.55 that its cheaper.

Changing a car to save £50 on road tax is ludicrous but if you fancy a change then thats ok.

Also 14k for a 1.6tdci zetec seems high, you could get it closer to 13k. In fact, Drive the Deal have 2.0 TDCI Titaniums for £14k!

Or a buy a year old one for £9k.

Having said that, those leasing prices do seem fairly competitive

The road tax on the 1.6 TDCI focus is £35!!

Yes sorry 13k odd for the model im looking at, i was looking at the Titaniums price:(
79000 miles on my focus

thats quite a good deal to be honest but you'd be much better off with the 6 speed 136ps 2.0 TDCi, a much better engine.
