any particular reason why you want the Asus X38 mobo? if not then you might be better off with the Asus P5K-E Wifi (£93) or Abit IP35-Pro (£112) or OCUK Value IP35Pro (£70) (all using P35 chipset) :)

p/s: you could save abit more money if you dont need RAID and dual 16x PCI-E slots by going for the Abit IP35-E (£64), very capable motherboard and cheap :p

Ah ok, yeah I wasnt too sure about motherboard so that was helpful =]

Oh, could someone tell me what the difference is between 8500 ram and 6400? I'll most likely overclock to 3Ghz, from what I can gather 8500 ram is more for pushing it further. Could the 6400 be more for me?

Well I got told the following on another board, went over my head slightly but I think I'll be going for 6400:

The difference is it's rated speed.
PC2-6400 = 800MHz
PC2-8500 = 1066MHz
PC2-8500 will be faster, but memory clock does not have the same impact as CPU clock or memory amount.
Another thing is CL (CAS Latency), main memory timing; 800MHz at CL4 is faster than 800MHz CL5. That particular kit you have chosen has the same ICs and PCB, but two performance bins: one is 800 CL4, second is 1066 CL5. I'd get the cheaper one, as they both have the same capability, only default speed differs.

I'll be ordering my new PC shortly, so if anyone thinks theres better alternatives to what I've got above... =p

I've attempted to make the order but..... Abbey are not having any of it for some reason... I phoned them and they should the order should go through fine (details entered correctly, enough funds etc). I've sent a webnote but I really don't see what the problem is.
