I am just about to build my new system and as most people have a few financial contraints when building it as it stands right now i have two choices which i need advice on.

1. Purchase a 8800 GTS and 1gb of 5300 ram
2. Purchase a 7950 gt and 2 gb of 5300 ram

What so you all think ?

What's your total budget for RAM and gfx card? You'll need 2GB of RAM for gaming, so 2GB of that + either a x1950 Pro or a x1950 XT would work well. I'd go for them over the 7950 GT. Generally, I go by this list for upgrades of PCI-E cards...

7600 GS (£69) , 7600 GT (£100) , 7900 GS (£110) , x1950 Pro (£125) , x1950 XT (£170) , 8800 GTS (£290) , 8800 GTX (£375) .

If no-one has said it already, welcome to the forums :)

Without a doubt. :)

Same, but if you can wait a bit, then i would as theres talk of an X1950 XT/pro killer coming from Nvidia for less than £200, the 320mb 8800 GTS, exactly the same as the GTS thats out now, but with only 320mb Ram instead of 640mb, rumour is its getting prepared for launch now, so if you can wait a week or so, then i would strongly advise it to see if indeed this does come out or not, ive a feeling it will as Nvidia will know they will hit ATi sales hard in a big big way, their x1950 XTX is already worthless due to the next gen GTS's price, so if this does indeed come out, then thats the x1950pro/XT's fate sealed as well. :)

Even if that GTS does come out, which hasn't been confirmed as it's another VR-Zone rumour (but I hope it is true), it's not going to be under £200. VR-Zone said it's expected to be $299 USD, so expect it to retail at £250 or more here after import and tax because we'll get ripped off as per usual.

Cant see it being that expensive, not when you take a look at the full 640mb's price, and the rumour is its heading into the 7900's/x1950 XT's price range, i know id be gutted if i splashed out that much on a card, then in about a week or so it was totally worthless as i could have got a much better new gen card for around same price, if it were me id wait a week or so to see, won't kill you, but if you can't wait then get the x1950 XT. :)

I cant see it being that price you can get them for under £260 now quite a bit under they should be less than 200 as the GTS is sure to go down in price over the next month or two.
