I'm still running a C2Duo E6400 clocked to 2.5ghz for the moment and my PC switched itself off a little earlier. After turning it back on and checking with core temp, both cores were showing as 100 C!

Automatically, I panicked and dashed off to the nearest purple place before it closed and purchased a new cpu cooler under an 'assumption' that the old stock cooler had died. I've now fitted an Akasa Cool Blue thing and my temps are idling at 45 C. This seems higher than I would like but I have now noticed that the 120mm exhaust fan is not spinning, will this have a negative impact on the cpu temp?

Of course it will make a difference if the fan isn't spinning!!!

Is the fan connected to a mobo header, or PSU?

Got all my fans working now (was a loose conn to mobo header). However, still idling at 45 c, is that ok? Building a new PC in a couple of months so I need this one to stay alive until then.

The worst thing that will have happened is that it will shut itself down. Don't worry about having damaged it. It's fine.

Haha, my fps have shot up in everything. My stock cooler must have been dead for some time! Can't believe my PC is still alive, I'm such a divvy at times.
