Hi all,
Ok, here's my list (current and propsed):
Current:
LG 42 PQ6000
WDTV Live
Wii
LG Upscaling dvd player
Proposed:
PS3
Sony STR-HD800 (proposed)
Onkyo SKSHT528 5.1 speaker system
Now most of you experts will probably know about the STR-HD800, but what about the choice of speakers? Yes, i know they are a budget setup, but its within my budget, i quite like the look of them and they seem to get fair reviews. Oh...and they're small enough to duck under the 'wifey-radar'
Also, due to my room acoustics i don't believe that spending much more money will result in a much better audio experience.
Now, i have installed under the floor, tails for 7.1 (although will only use 5.1) with 0.75mm lo-oxide (?) twin speaker cable, given to me by some disco installers so it should be easily adequate for my needs.
So, would the Onkyo speakers pair up nicely with the Sony receiver (thats where i'd prefer to spend my money tbh, better speakers can come in the future i guess).
Also would the Sony cater for everything in my setup? It has 4 x hdmi inputs; WDTV, PS3 (probably won't need the upscaling dvd player). Wii would connect by component/composite?
If you agree that it's ok, what else would i need? Someone mentioned a specific cable from sub-woofer to amp/receiver?
Obviously everything than can be hdmi'd will be so.
