Battlefield War Rush Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz DDR3 Limited Edition Quad Core Gaming PC

I got this pre-built machine from Overclockers but the warranty ran out 2 months ago. I believe it to be the PSU that has died, it keeps restarting every 2 seconds, with lights coming on for the CPU fan etc but then it stops. No bios or anything has a chance to load up. I tried taking 1 hard drive out, no effect.

So can you guys recommend a replacement PSU for me , max budget £100-149

Thank you!

my concern is losing the OC settings done by Overclockers for this spec :-(

And it had a blue screen of death about hardware failure. took dvd rom and the 2 hard drives off. the G card, CPU fan and case fans all spin fast but the PSU fan is barely spinning.

You should have a saved profile in the BIOS which you can re-load even after a CMOS reset.

By looks of your symptoms this can be coursed by a unstable Overclock or even a faulty memory module.

I noticed that they only OC'd it to 4.3ghz and not 4.4ghz as advertised. So perhaps it had stability issues to begin with.

I got it in November 2011

i forgot to try taking the ram out 1 at a time (2 ram chips, 4gb each)

i took 1 ram chip out, it did a few restarts and now all fans appear to be running but nothing on the monitor. but the DVD Rom and Hard drives are still unplugged. I would still expect to see a message along the lines of nothing to boot. Its a DVI to HDMI monitor tho

i did the OS hard drive and dvd rom, they appear to be running. but no power to the mouse and nothing on the monitor...

I guess i can do CMOS next..

I think you have the Z68 version of the board, the Z77 chipset was launched April 2012 ~

But I would try the CMOS rest though, sorry to sound like a broken record!

I feel silly saying this, but its not clear how to clear the CMOS on this particular motherboard.. I am trying to find the manual online of the Mobo

edit:

I believe ive found the real manual. GA-Z68 AP-D3. The pin thing appears to be missing for me to use it. Theres one similiar sized for the PWR_Fan and Sys_Fan though that i could use for the reset as it has no power anyway??

Dont worry we are here to help :)

In the picture (link) below which I think is your motherboard. You will see CLR CMOS in lower left part next to the SATA ports, short the 2 pins together with the power switch off for a few seconds.

Again i noticed it did a 2 second boot up,, switched off, then booted up and it managed to stay on that time. But nothing going to the monitor or mouse again.

I'll try the CMOS now and if that doesnt work im ordering a PSU tonight. lol!

Ok used screw driver, same effect, boots 2 seconds, loses power, boots up again(on its own) maintains power, HDs can be heard running but no power to mouse or monitor.

This was a 650W ZS Ocz by the way :-(

Very annoying! :(

Just to confirm the reset CMOS header was on the lower left hand side of the board, just in front of the Power Switch and HDD LED connections and you have both memory modules installed.

Do you have any option of testing any parts of the system in another machine.

my other PC is AMD based. This one with the issue is Intel based. So that might be more work than its worth. According to the manual i am positive i did the CMOS

Says CLR_CMOS
