Runing 5820k and two 980ti's on the xfx 850w proseriess xxx edition semi-modular bronze edition, or something. Think its a single rail

During intense gaming, my psu fan is louder than anything else! Plenty of airflow too

It's a Seasonic built unit with 840w on a single 70A 12v rail so it "should" be ok. If you have the cpu and gpu's overclocked it could be running close to it's limits which is why the fan is ramping up. The only way to tell is to buy a plug in power monitor which you can buy for around a tenner from Amazon. You plug them into your wall socket and then plug the pc power lead into that and it gives you real time power draw at the wall. Power draw at the wall will always be more than your psu is delivering to the pc components so don't go panicking if it says 900w because depending on the psu's efficiency the power your psu will be delivering will be less.
