Hi all

Current Set up

Type R 550W PSU
Gigabyte 965p DS3P
Core Duo 2.40 Conroe
X1900XT Card 512 MB
Crucial Balistix - 2gb 6400 800mhz
Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer

... Upgrade time.. thinking new Graphics card and 2 Gb more ram? Any thoughts on which card? Been away for a while but thinking 2900pro or 8800GTS/X?

Yeah id just get a 2900Pro while they are arround, as they all clock to 2900XT & trhey are cheaper than the 800GTS. So likely still the best performing high end card even factoring in the 8800GT.

The new GT is going to sport 112 stream processors at 1.5Ghz just like the new revised GTS, so I think the performance won't be far off at all. As for the set back of having 256bit bandwidth we'll just have to wait and see.

Higher resolutions with AA/AF the GT will feel the burn.

Aye. I think so too but then again who knows. It's just making sense for these new cards to be slightly crippled against the old GTX revision in some manner. A GT or a GTS beating the old GTX is highly unlikely or someone's on a crack binge high up in the Nvidia HQ.

Off topic. What have you done to your sig Tom?. This new one looks horrible in comparison :(. Not the Nvidia logo btw, it's just the colours make it look cheap and tacky. Your old sig was sleek ;).

It may make a return I don't fancy the new one too much either :p;)

Out of interest, what are you calling "higher resolutions"?

I'm still looking to get an 8800GT, with the main intention of playing Crysis + UT3, and also MOH:Airborne, Bioshock, maybe Lost Planet, Gears of War, Timeshift. Basically, a whole bunch of recent, and near future titles.

Will be playing at 1680x1050.

In this day and age, I'd call that an average, middle of the road resolution?
Hopefully can still manage to play these games, with 2x/4x AA?

V1N.
