So my 2 - 3 month old Saphire R9 Fury died, I called Overclockers and spoke to a very helpful chap who said they can get the turn-around done quickly however the R9 Fury isn't in stock any more because "it's too old" :s. I was given the option to change to an RX 480 and initially accepted however after checking it on several review websites and asking on Unreal Engine IRC (who are more in-line with what works and what doesn't when it comes to hardware needed for the work I do) they said i need to go back and talk to Overclockers straight away and either get the same gpu replaced or ask to have it swapped for an "NVidia gtx 1070" or greater as the RX480 is insufficient and the 1060 doesn't have enough video memory. Overclockers said they can't do partial payments :s
I've since checked again on the Overclockers website and there is now a b-grade R9 Fury Nitro which is identical to the card I had before just a different make and a standard a grade R9 Fury Nitro but it's ~£80 more than than my previous card. Assuming someone doesn't buy the b-grade until Overclockers receive my dead gpu back all will be well and I'll get back a working and sufficient card but knowing my bad luck someone will buy it out leaving me in a bit of a fix.
I've been offered either a replacement with an RX480 which won't work for what I need it for, leaving me out of pocket and needing to spend more money I don't have on another GPU or get a "partial refund" (I wasn't told the exact amount yet).
I work with Unreal Engine, 3dsmax, Substance Designer, Substance Painter and Photoshop as well as occasional gaming at 3440x1440@75hz and could really use some advice on how to resolve this so everyone is happy, I'd rather not have to jump through 200 hoops just to get a working GPU and money right now is tight so as much as I'd like to, I can't just go out and buy another one. Please help.
edit: Overclockers have been able to replace the GPU with an identical one so there is no longer a problem, I'm super glad I didn't have to wait as it'd have cost my job.
