Just been down peeling off masking tape. I've got a couple of spots of dry overspray that need sanding down and there are runs everywhere, but once the engine is in you won't really see them so it's all good. The red is a fair bit darker than the rest of the car but that isn't really surprising given it's nearer orange than red these days.

Just put the flywheel and new clutch onto the replacement engine, need to sand off some bits of overspray on various cables etc and then the engine can go in, wahey.

I just ordered my paint today. Got 3 litres of high build 2K primer and 5 litres of red, so plenty for in and out :D Bit the bullet and went with Jawel after all that saying I'd never get paint from them etc. I must have had a duff batch last time.

It's not my fault if it's crap :p It seems a bit slow to go off I have to say, but it's very shiny.

At least it's cheap.

Looks good, suprised you got runs though, i've done painting before and found it hard to cause runs unless you a) put too much in 1 spot or b) spray too close to the bodywork.

1) Too much thinner
2) Engine bays are full of awkward shapes (well, the 205 is) so you need to get in close to get coverage everywhere. Panels are much much easier to get a good flat finish on.

Engine bay reassembly under way.

It's boring but quite satisfying reassembling everything with nice new bolts and screws. As long as I remember where it all goes :p

Cool, will you finish the Supra when this is done?

I dunno really. I have nearly all the bits I need to reassemble it... head is back on, cambelt back on etc. I just can't be arsed to fiddle with it at the moment. The 205 is within my comfort zone :D

Just read the entire thread (took quite a long time!). Cracking thread.

You seem to work very hard, I hope the fruits of your labour will bring you a lot of enjoyment.

All the best.

Come on L1J how's the Golf going? I'm flying along here :D

Starting to look like a car again! Ive currently got a car with a gearbox hanging half off parked on the road with various buckets underneath it catching fluids.

After lunch ill be back out to swear at it and curse when i cant find the last few bolts.

All good fun.
