My ram is dead.

Hi.

Well today my bios was freezing, then the PC would not boot, so I reset CMOS, still would not boot, so I took one stick of ram out, and it worked, put the other stick back in and took the working stick out, and the PC would not boot :(

So what should I do now? I only have 1GB ram now with another 1GB dead stick

Which memory?

RMA it if it's dead. You'll need to return both sticks if it's a dual-channel kit btw.

Crucial Ballistix PC5300 667Mhz.

Should I contact Point of purchase or Crucial?

Freephone Crucial on 0800 0130330 and get an RMA number from them. You should get straight through to a Scottish bloke/bird and they'll be more than happy to help you. If they have the PC5300 in stock you should have a turn-around of 7 days at the most. Probably less if they're not too busy.

You'll need the model number at hand (BL2KIT12864AA663) and the batch number that's printed on each DIMM.

On mine I have that model number (BL12864AA663), but what is the batch number? 16FD2?

I thought this ram was good at overclocking, turn out it aint :(

3-3-3-7-T1, 850Mhz, 2.35V, and it killed a stick!?!?!?, I dont get it, coz loads of people get timings like that, I think I will just stick to 4-4-4-12 800 now, I'm scared of overclocking ram, totally scared, wont dare go far again.

For crying out loud, a couple of kits fail so what it happens.

The ammount of Memory Crucail sell their will be kits that fail.

If everyone posted about their Crucial Memory Working guess how many threads their would be of that?

3-3-3-7 on 1T and pumping 2.35 threw the volts, goodluck. :o You got bad sticks thats all.

So my ram should have easilly done that clock? well if I get replacements, I dont think I'll be doing that again. These sticks are around 1-2 months old now.

3-3-3-7 at 850MHZ and pumping 2.35 volts threw them is very tight, no wonder they failed to be honest.

667MHZ, 3-3-3-12, 2.2Vdimm

800MHZ 3-3-3-12, 2.2Vdimm, Should be fairly striaght forward.

Now you may get lucky and get it up to 810MHZ or so on 3-3-3-12 timmings but once you pass 800MHZ set the timings to 4-4-4-12 and that should take you all the way up to 1000MHZ.

With the Vdimm at 2.2. :)

I think you stressed it a bit to much to tell you the truth.

To get stable at 1000Mhz 4-4-4-12 I needed to up the voltage to 2.35V. Bah I would not be surprised then if damage has been done to the working stick aswell.

Someone was running 3-3-3-7 T1 at 800Mhz stock volts :eek:

Maybe I should just settle for 1000Mhz 4-4-4-15 then? Even got BSOD's with 4-4-4-12 1000Mhz at 2.35V.

Ok, I called them, they said that my ram aint in stock atm :(, so if I call back next week, if they still dont have anything, they will have to arrange for a faster speed to be sent, I am sure she said possibly 8500, so fingers crossed :D
 
Sweet.

Usually they tell you to send it on in and they'll post it back on the day they get the new stock in.

What makes me laugh is these adverts for "hotlines" (mind the pun) where you get to talk to serposid hot women on the phone. But tbh, id imagin if a girl was hot and she wanted to go into somthing like porn. Well this is phone sex after all. Then surely shed make more money if she achualy showed her body. So they are probly all fat lol.

Um yes... back on track. Phone her up and ask her out on a date ;) Be reallllly romantic and slip the ram in her bra and ask if it can be replaced. Im sure it will go down a treat ;)
