My ram is running at 665mhz...

It is running at 1333, it is DDR (double data rate) so your fine. ;) Go into the BIOS and manually set your RAM to 1600 and you'll be sorted. Look at your SPD tab and you'll see the speeds up to 800 with 1600 above.

Quick question, don't want to start a new thread. My motherboard says, on the box, can cope with memory up to 1600Mhz; then when in the BIOS it says a max setting of 1400Mhz. Which when I do break the Max, the system crashes BIOS needed reset. Is this of any relation?

N.B/ OCZ Reaper DDR3 (1600Mhz) and P7N2 - Diamond.

Is your system overclocked at all.

What memory voltage are you using.

The only, currently, overclocked part of my system is the CPU (Intel QX6700 2.66Ghz @ 3.00Ghz). The memory is not OC'd though and is standard 7-7-7-24 at 1333, the voltage is 1.75, it is also unlinked from the CPU. There has been once and only once, I booted the machine up (amist a lot of OCing) with the BIOS automatically controlling the RAM: This booted with 1600Mhz though has never happened before or since, despite keeping the same BIOS settings.

Look for an "XMS" setting in your bios as thats what the 1600mhz speed is branded as often enough. I have to enable it on my MSI P67-C45 mobo to get the full speed out of my RAM as choosing 1600mhz as a raw speed doesn't quite work for some odd reason :S

James j can you please explain what you did to get the 1600mhz im running the kingston genesis grey ram at 1333,
Plec told me what to change in another thread but for some reason when i check in msi control centre and cpu-z (latest release) it still shows as 1333 an not 1600, im running i5 2500k/ MSI GD65 and the kingston grey 2x2gig in dimms 1+3.
After each change i f10 to save and restart.
Any help would be great

Make sure you're looking in the "memory" tab and not the "SPD" tab in CPU-Z.

That will show the actual speed of the RAM.

If I remember correctly from another thread the MSI Control Centre doesn't report the RAM speed properly.

Although my graphics aren't going well I took the time of not being able to use an operating system to sort out the OC. I found the reason I couldn't clock my RAM at the correct frequency; because the latency was set to 7-7-7-24 (Stated on the documentation) but it seems it cannot get this speed at 1600Mhz. Would it be better to run the RAM at lower latency and frequency?

Also I have managed to OC my QX6700 to 1200Mhz x 11 resulting in 3.3Ghz would this effect what frequency I want my RAM at?

Run CPU-Z and post a picture of the CPU and memory tabs so we can see where you've ended up.
