Hows it going guys:)

Just about finished my first CPU loop with not too many problems along the way.
After a good bit of running I've noticed foam accumulating in the top of the res.
the system has been leak tested for over 10 hours with no leaks. I've tried turning the pump to a low speed to avoid turbulence and also ran the system for a few hours with the top plug removed from the res, but to no avail.
i spoke to a fella a couple of weeks ago who advised me to run a full 50ml bottle of anti-corrosion fluid through my loop which is about 1 litre in capacity. i got to about 20ml and stopped because of clouding. is this level of anti-corr fluid to much and possibly the cause of the foaming?:confused:

any help or advice would be most appreciated.

Anti corro, I'm guessing that will be some type of oil, oil and water don't really mix well and wil go cloudy and scum type mixture will rise to the highest point, which I suppose is the res as it's collecting air, < totally guessing so could be wrong.

Only thing I can suggest is to clean it out and flush it and start again.

Welcome to the forums!

Your computer is almost certainly frothing because you've been filling it with anti-corrosion fluid. I'm confident that draining and refilling with water will remove the foam. You could try adding small quantities of anti-corrosion fluid to find the point where it foams, or just run the loop without any anti-corrosion fluid at all. Or try other additives.

I'd probably just leave the foam in there until something more detrimental happened, but if I was feeling motivated I'd drain the loop and refill with water.

what fluid are you using?

personnaly i would drain the system, flush with de ionised water then choose a well known branded coolent and be done with it. dont bother with these anti corrosion fluids
 
Or turn off system, take off the lid of the res and scoop out the gunk, do it a few times till clean.

if it's possible, not sure but I don't think your water will come out, you could unscrew the top port to check, get some tea towels ready.

cheers for the speedy response guys.
before i started the build i was doubtful whether to use it or not. i couldn't find much info on it and decided to go with the lads advice, thinking "better to be safe than sorry", do you think i need it at all? my loop is mainly copper and nickel.
