Used some 600 & 800 Wet and dry to lap my cpu and my Scythe Ninja. Took the cpu down to the copper, it wasn't all that bad but still took nearly 10 mins of rubbing to get it all down to copper.
Anyway, the before and after. Used intel TAT to monitor temps and also apply full load to both cores.

Before Idle 40/41 Full load 52/55
After Idle 30/32 Full load 42/45
(CORE1/CORE2)

I'm happy with that. Will give the tiny bit of AS5 I applied time to settle before I knock my overclock up a bit.

*EDIT* Just loaded Everest to check temps in there. It's saying the CPU's IHS is 23c on idle. Nice.

sorry no pics. Didn't have a camera handy. I havn't made it mirror finish though, i'm not that anal.
It's not as scary as I first thought really. I just got the 3 different grades of wet and dry and selotaped them to the kitchen table (much to the missus's disgust) :p then just did the standard 3 rubs, turn 90degrees etc, till all the silver paint or whatever it is, is gone and i'm left with pure copper.
The sides started wearing first, as i suppose almost all cpu's would have done.
When I lapped the ninja it really didn't need much of anything, about a minute on each grade.
I really have just a tiny spec of AS5 on now. Just enough to fill any grooves left by sanding. I don't mind that my warrenty is ******, i'm running at 3.5 now with 40c idle and 52 full load. Gonna leave it priming all afternoon as I have to go back to work!
