OK, firstly yes I know this is a rather sad 'look at my rig' thread. And in deed I am a geek, a nerd, a saddo, and all the insults you are currently thinking to call me -- yup -- they're all true .. But thought I'd share my PC rig with you anyway as I am so excited ..

cimg0212s.jpg

Firstly, I have a room dedicated to the PC.

Monitors -- I currently have 4 monitors but only 3 in these piccies. I am getting a fifth this weekend.

I have a 30", 2 * 21 inch (so on their sides they are exactly the height of the 30", and a crap 15 inch. But the 15 " isn't in this piccy.

I have a Rokkat gaming mouse -- and a logitech mouse -- a G25 steering wheel, a joystick and throttle thing I never use, a printer, and 7.1 surround sound. And a 360 pad.

Now, the computer

1) 8gb fastest RAM I could buy
2) rubbish 160gb SSD
3) 2*velociraptor 300gb in Raid 0 (as fast if not faster than SSD)
4) Some rubbish Samsubg 1tb disk just for bulk storage of stuff I don't care about fast access for (all this lot is of course SATA)
5) Mad crazy ridiculous watercooling (discussed later)
6) A 3 ghtz processor which is currently running at 4.01 ghtz very cold - there's more left in it!!
7) Blue-ray and all the obvious stuff
8) A watercooled 4870 1gb
9) A watercooled 5970 which is colder than ice
10) Full eyefinity setup with 3 DVI monitors, and 0 DP monitors (thanks apple! Ask if you wanna know how I got it working)
11) All the usual -- microphone -- stupid lit-up (USB) mousepad .. a load of lights and lazer etching and 'see into' window etc on the case
12) Goodness me, maybe 200 games. Basically everything new apart from dragon age origins. If you look carefully I put the top of my STEAM games list on the middle screen so you can get some idea -- this list nowhere near fitted on 1 monitor!
13) 6 12cm fans and a couple of 8cm fans. Not factory rubbish -- the quietest fans you can buy -- attached with bizarre rubber screws to further reduce noise (the PC is very, very quiet)!
14) 24mb ADSL
15) Windows Vista but going to Windows 7 in 2 weeks ..

!!

Firstly here's my display setup screen

cimg0219.jpg

As you see (if your eyesight is good) it all works well with offering me 5 monitors to play around with (eyefinity not enabled at time of photo). For eyefinity I have to run all monitors at 1600*1200 which is my final hurdle -- next payday I get 2 more 30" monitors!!

I have a beer fridge under my desk (just out of screenshot). Which is by far the most important part of this setup - and full of strongbow!!

Now, time for the best bit

BRITBOY'S CRAZY WATER COOLING SETUP

Right -- lets do a circuit of the water system in the PC in order the water goes round and round ...

1) Pump
2) Out of here .. into 4870
3) Out of here .. round a MASSIVE loop, back down into the 5970 (I couldn't put straight out of the 4870 into the 5970 as the angles were all wrong)
4) Out of here .. and on up to the processor
5) From the processor to the NB
6) From the NB to the reservoir
7) From the reservoir to the radiator
8) From the radiator to the pump

!!

It is simply mental. and takes a lot of coolant just to fill the pipes! BUt, amazingly, all works well.

Now, my computer is jammed by my desk and I couldn't be bothered to unplug it all for exact photos so I stuck the camera round the side for a few snaps ...

If you can see the white thing in there .. you'll laugh at this .. it is a bit of shoe-string I had to tie against an upper fan to hold the water cooling cable up as the weight of it all was making it fall down.

The cooling on the 5970 is Koolance block by the way. Not all, but all important VRMs are covered.

At 100% usage, the 5970 currently just about maxes at 45 degress! YEEEAAAA! Tonight -- proper overclocking time on this, the last card..

Now, even if your reply is just to call my PC my 'e-penis' .. let me know what you think.

Some boring figures: On Trials 2 I get updates of about 2500 fps. (Pointless but a funny stat). On everything else on max settings and everything it's faster update than my eye can see. The 4870 is basically going to be used on monitor #4 and #5 just to update footy results, steam friends, huge sidebar etc -- as all 3 centre screens will be eyefinity.

(final note -- let us not discuss the kleenex under the desk in one of the piccies!)

just about see a full pic on a 26" ha!

anyways thats a pretty sweet rig.. would be interesting to see what that GPU setup gets on crysis.
or would it just use the 5890?

(p.s Cider in a can is awful :D)

Piccies fixed (press refresh!).

All games will just use the 5970. The 4870 1gb is just for other stuff . I'll give you the FPS once I've clocked the 5970 ..

Errr meh...

What CPU, speakers, memory, fans?

Watercooling setup is nice, a far shot from crazy, ridiculous mental though.

Great choice of keyboard though, I used to have one and it's so functional. :)

What on earth is that loop going between the 2 graphics cards?

A couple of 45 degree fittings would have allowed you to join those 2 connections with a much smaller piece of tubing!!

Also, it looks as though you need to sort out your wires inside that case, looks cluttered from what I can see in those pics..

It's a little cluttered because of all the stuff in the case -- yes could use a few hours with cable tidiers in there ..

Indeed a couple of 45 degree fittings would have been a lot better .. but I didn't know exactly what to buy -- so instead put in a mental loop right over the top -- as without the fittings (or anti-kink coils at the time) it had to be that big to avoid kinking ...

Told you it was a crazy water setup ....

Dude you have all that cool gear, TIDY IT UP!! lol :D

a TJ07 can look a lot tidier than that!!

Also is everything all on the one loop? Ie 1 rad pump and such cooling both graphics cards and cpu?

Crazy!! but sounds like its working well for ya.

I have my i7 920 @ 4.2ghz on its own loop. Havent watercooled my 4890's yet as im waiting on the prices on the 5970's to settle.

Nice spec though, ohh did i say??

"TIDY IT UP!!" :p

Yes everything on the one loop. The pump made a wierd sound when I first turned it on (like it was saying 'Mother of god what are you expecting of me man!).

Also a lot of air to shift out of the 'crazy huge loop between the cards'. Now, eventually, it's air free though.

OK, I am going to have a big think about how easiest to tidy the mess ..

Did you cut any holes in your mobo tray, and in the midplate behind the mobo tray for routing cables from the PSU?

It makes things so much easier with the TJ07 if you do this, there is loads of space behind the mobo tray for keeping all your cables tidy..

To get an idea, take a look at Ghost Reapers excellent Murdermodded TJ07 thread here, he's done an amazing job with his cable management, so much so, that I am going to redoing all mine this weekend!!
