Hi All,

Just thought I would share my new PC build. Well, pretty much new except for the case, card reader and CPU (Which I'm looking to replace)

The system performs really well under full HD video rendering, not really a gamer so not tested many games, Minecraft is my sort of gaming level! Hopefully the system will run even better with a new 8-Core Bulldozer whenever AMD release them, then I can finally use my current chip and old parts removed when upgrading to upgrade my server from its current Athlon 1400+

Specs:
  • AMD Phenom II x6 1055t (Waiting for Bulldozer 8-Core, Hurry up AMD!)
  • Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 (AM3+)
  • ASUS GeForce GTX 560ti 1gb DirectCU II
  • 8gb G-Skill RipjawsX (1600mHz)
  • 60gb Corsair Force 3 SSD (Boot)
  • 1tb Seagate 7200rpm (x2 in RAID 1)
  • Corsair HX650W
  • Antec 900 (Hence the not so managed cables!)
  • Corsair A50
  • Sony Optiarc DVD±RW

Other Peripherals (Pretty old but they do the job):
  • Sony Bravia 19" TV being used as a monitor (Hoping to replace as can only go up to 1200x768)
  • Microsoft Comfort Mouse 3000 (Well, it points)
  • Dell AT-102W Mechanical Keyboard (Made in 1996 and still going strong! Uses Black Alps Switches which are tactile but non-clicky)

And now a photo of the not so tidy interior, I tried my best but the Antec 900 really doesn't "do" cable management and if I tried to neaten it up any more it would end up be in bits below my window. I thought about drilling holes but anyone who knows me would know that Me+Drill=Bad (I'd end up drilling my hand off or something equally as dumb). The flat cables on the HX650 really helped though!

Even with the mess I've managed to keep the wires out of the way so they don't affect air flow and the system runs nice and cool!

So... Yeh... What do you think?

Its good but the cables! you can do better than that! For example

CPU Power cable - is there a gap between the motherboard and your graphics card next to the pci brackets? run it through that!

The PCI cables, pull them under the card then when the come close to the motherboard pull them right, towards the HDDS, then cable tie them along with the other cables beside the hard drives. If you done that right, you will actually see the edge all around your motherboard!

The fan cable at the top of the case. Run that along the top right up in the corner. Make it tight, dont let it hang them cable tie all that stuff inside the 5.25 bay, or as much as you can get in there!

Also just noticed, your card is bending quite a lot!

Other than that looks like a good rig :)

Thanks for the comments, I'll probably revisit the cable management as I was a bit hot and bothered when doing the original build - Had to search the whole city to find screws for the extra hard drives - Stupid 900 taking extra long ones!

As far as the bending graphics card goes, it does look like that in the photo but in real life seems to be okay - Possibly just the angle or the way the camera focussed

Cable ties cost pennys.

Get the 8pin cable to the cpu behind the motherboard, this will involve unscrewing it:(

Looks pretty good for a system with many components. (SSD and 2 HDs)

The heat spreaders are incredibly close to that A50... But it does fit. (Only just lol)

Very nice build :)

nice build, good to see ppl not falling for that sandybridge hype :P

I too use the x6 1055t and have it clocked to 3.5 @ 1.275v :D
