The cards 100% Gone. Tried everything, diff board and power supply etc.

Im looking for a card with similar performance. Can possibly be a little less powerful. The main games I play are League of Legends, D3 and Path of Exile.

Budget is not a problem, I could go out and buy a 290x but there would literally be no point.

So im looking for a really good Bang for buck card. This is where you guys come in :D

Cheers for your time!

I'd get the 280x if you can stretch to it.

I only used the 280 for comparison as it's essentially the same card as the 7950.

If you want something of similar grunt then maybe the 280x? The performance should be roughly the same as the card is practically a rebranded 7970. I'd suggest going either for the 970 or 290x if money isn't an issue, though.

IMO, there's no point in taking a step back unless you're 100% sure you don't need that much power or that you won't be keeping the card for long. If either of these happens to be the case, then you should be happy with the 280x.

The 960 is still unknown, may be worth waiting maybe not.

If the OP needs a GPU now, then 280/280x is the logical choice.

They were a decent price but it's gone up now. As for this particular card, I'd also be a bit wary. There were a lot of users who reported problems with their MSI 7950's when they were released and the fact these are refurbs with only 3 months warranty was enough for me not bite.

A R9 280 sounds like a good bet or hold fire and see what nvidia GTX 960 offers.

A 280x i'd say. The value has long gone on the refurb 7950, failing that i'd suggest a 970, or maybe a 290.

Shame you just missed a cracking deal on a 290 for £199 a couple of weeks ago.

The 960 is rumoured to be just a 2GB card, so you're stepping down in terms of VRAM from your current card.

Do you really even need a 7970 for those type of games? I'm not sure exactly on the requirements for LoL but D3 doesn't require much GPU so I'd just look around the 760/280 mark or even lower tbh.

Thanks for the input everyone. I eventually decided on the sapphire 280x Vapor, i live like 5 mins away from OC so i went down just and its running a treat :D.

The cooler looks nice in real life but it nearly didnt fit! Sooo much longer than the 7970.

Happy new year all :D
