Hi guys. I've been immensely pleased with my pre-built Overclockers gaming PC (that I bought back in 2008) and so I thought I'd turn to the forums for some advice on what's one of the best pre-builts for around £650 including Windows 7. Only now am I feeling that my PC is straining a bit and want to pass it on to a younger sibling so I can buy a new one!

I've been 'out of the loop' as far as hardware is concerned and play a lot of the newer PC releases so was hoping to receive some direction on what's 'in' right now. Cheers guys!

I know it's fairly tight, although my last one was pre-built and it was absolutely fantastic. I do want something that will last though, at least in terms of motherboard and processor. I'm a novice when it comes to PC building but am easily able to replace a graphics card every now and then!

Youll get a lot better PC and learn a new skill :)

Theres a guide here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18046396

And many videos online too.

That's a great guide, and making the prospect of a home build all the more tempting. In that case, perhaps I should ask what else would I need other than the basket of goods listed above? For example, I remember buying a new hard drive and having to buy a SATA cable separately to connect it.

Thats true, though in this instance you'd be buying a motherboard to, that comes with SATA cables.. :) (thats why you didn't get them with your hard drive)

Nothing.

The CPU comes with a stock cooler (can add an aftermarket cooler so you can overclock it [and cut down on noise]) and thermal paste already install (on the stock cooler)

All connectors you need will be on the PSU (SATA is only exception [see above] :) ).

You will need a DVI/HDMI cable and peripherals and that's about it. :)

While being a fair point (note to OP) Beer and computers dont go well together. :)

That's brilliant, perhaps I shall keep that list and try and grab some OC offers over the next few weeks then.
