My settings for OC... are the OK?

I have an i7-930 (2.8GHz stock) and Corsair XMS 3 RAM, these are on a GA-X58A-UD5 Mobo.

I have set my BLCK to 160 and the multplier to 22, for RAM my mutiplier is 10. This gives me an i7-930 @ 3.52GHz and my RAM is now at the rated 1600MHz which is stock value.

I am obviously using the PC now to write this, but I changed nothing else... just the BLCK and multiplers... is this the correct thing to do? I see people talking about other values likevoltage but I do not know what I need to do with those.

My cooler is the Megahalem thing, which is why I went for 3.52GHz as the room has no air conditioning.

Edit: Just ran Prime 95 and within a few minutes Core 1 hit 100 degree's C. The others all hit the 90's. I had a look at the voltages and the system is reporting 1.365v but in the page where I can them it says vcore is set to 1.220v. Would lowering my vcore voltage bring the temperature down?

As much as i know about overclocking, only increase the Vcore (incrementally) if your PC is unstable with prime or other such programs, This may be a very time consuming task but surely it will pay off :D i guess we are both on the same boat.

As i am trying to get my E5200 to 3.4/3.5 stable (its at 3.31ghz stable right now)

Yeah, I feel I will have to go deliberately low to begin with. I don't feel a 4GHz number is needed for this processor although I respect those who do go up into those numbers.

I just lol'd at my own system though when people here are getting really low temps and my i7 temps when idling are high even when using the processors default. For instance, using the stock value the i7-930 is idling at 45-49 degree's C.

Hi m8, these are my settings so use them as a guide, as always you overclock at your own risk. As for your temps what is your case air flow like, whats your room temp like?

Corsair XMS 3 RAM, find out what your timings and max dram volts are and set your memory at that, my ram is 8-8-8-24 - max volts 1.65v so l use 1.66v in the bios.

OC BIOS x58a UD5 -i7920 > 4.0GHz > 191X21=4.0GHz my temps never went over 70'c no matter how hot my room was on air.

Thanks for that OLDPHART, will give those settings a go in my Mobo. Different model of i7 but same series and very close together, I suspect everything should work out fine because the differences between the 920 and 930 are neglible at best.
