I got a PAYG mobile a long time ago, it was one2one at the time (now T-Mobile)

The card holds a whopping 5 txt messages and hardly any contacts.
I am buying a new phone once Pay day arrives and I plan to stick with T-Mobile.

I know my old SIM will work in the new phone, I just think it's time to get a new sim card too.

Can I somehow get my old number moved over to the new SIM card ?

Sorry, for someone who loves technology, I am a Luddite when it comes to mobiles.

I have a one2one simcard and i still use it in my SE k800i i lost all the messages but kept all the contacts, i think the messages just get stored on the phones memory, not sure though.

T-mobile werent very helpful when i asked them about that and transferring numbers and credit and stuff so I cant really give you a clear answer i'm afraid.

surely if you tell T-Mobile what you've just said they'll send a new sim with the same number on it.

if not, threaten to leave and ask for a pac code. hopefully that'll work, and if not, just move to a new payg network? :S unless t-mobile offer something really good on their payg tarriffs?

It most likely won't be a USIM so you won't be able to access the T-Mobile 3G networks from it, but if you don't plan to use any data services like WAP at all, then it won't make any difference. The battery life tends to be better on 2.5G networks rather than 3G anyway.

The modern USIMs hold a lot more data, but then most people store their numbers and texts on their phones where there is almost no capacity restriction anyway.

So, you can have the SIM card swapped if you want (I don't know whether they'd want you to pay for the SIM card) but if data usage is not an issue then it probably won't make any difference.

Thanks for this.
No I don't want to use data services or anything like that, it was purely to increase data storage on the SIM card.

I may see what T-Mobile say, as slambo69 said, they didn't seem all that interested to him, so I won't expect too much. As you say I can just store the data on the phone.

most modern phones have memory on the phone that are used for storing contacts / messages

You'll really struggle to find a phone without it, so just keep your old sim and enjoy having unlimited contacts and messages :)

Is there any reason to say with T-Mobile? Does the PAYG offer deals like o2 does? If not move to o2, you can port your current number over to them by requesting your PAC code.

If you REALLY want to stay with T-mobile then just ring them up and ask for a new sim card (same number).

I've never really considered moving to be honest. I probably put a tenner on my phone every couple of months. Few calls and txts is my only real cost.

Are there any real benefits from moving ?
