Hey everyone,

First off - checkout what got delivered today:

Tomorrow I'll be putting the build together, I started looking at the motherboard and heatsink, one thing that concerns me is the Noctua installation guide says LGA1156 board have a stock back plate which will need to be removed to fit the Noctua one. Currently the M/B just has this on the back which holds the CPU in place:

Is it referring to taking this off or something else?

Cheers,
Matt

Sometimes the simplest is also the best looking :)

Do a decent cabling job and I don't think you can fail with a Lian Li case :D

*<------- Warning: Lian Li fanbois alert here :D:p *

Last .... 5? ... cases I've owned have all been Lian Li's.

PC-60
PC7
PC7-B2+
G70
A70B

And soon to be a PC-P50R Dragon edition case :D (I think... )

No the installation manual says:

"Caution: On LGA1366 and LGA1156, the supplied backplate
will install over the mainboard’s stock backplate, so the mainboard’s
stock backplate must not be taken off."

In terms of the mounting plate. Is there anything else in the mobo box? I would assume you use the 4 corner holes around the cpus backplate. Easiest thing to do is take out the new coolers mount that you need and see where it lines up.

Biffa - Looks like I completely mis-read the guide. I also thought about it, and it talks about lining up holes from both backplates, so yeah I'm just having a simple moment.

You shouldn't have any issues with mounting the cooler, most of the coolers ive fitted in the past had a backplate that fitted over the cpu plate on the mobo.
look forward to the pics!

good choice on the case buddy! i have the same and started out keeping it ultra clean and simple
