My situation has left me with the scenario that it is highly likely that my only two possible choices are:

1) I rent 1 bed flat on my own + £70-80 pw including bills
2) I go in with randoms - £55 pw + bills

Pros and cons

Take the gamble and move in with randoms, i'd rather live with people that I don't know than by myself.

I lived on Penny lane in a huge house with Six others (professionals) for about 2 yrs.

Was one of the best times of my life.

All depends on wether you want your complete own space.

And wether you are lucky with your housemates.

Doesn't it depend on your financial status? Can you afford the £80+ per week?

These "randoms" could also turn out to be nice and eventually friends.

Wish i could get a 1 bed flat around here for £320 pcm... lucky if you get it below £450 where I am.

Anyway, depends if you can live on your own OK. you really don't know till you've tried. I can for a few months but then start to go stir crazy.

1)
Pros - You won't spend as much money on random crap
Cons - You won't spend as much money on random crap

2)
Pros - You spend less per week
Cons - They could be crazy and stab you while you sleep

On your own if you can afford it, in a shared place if you can't.

I could afford to live on my own when I lived at Penny Lane.

Hated the thought of Living in a shared house.

But saved loads of money...met loads of new people and learnt a lot about

myself.

At the time it was not what I wanted but needed a place quick.

Stayed there 2 yrs..and what a great time I had.

How many people would there be if you shared? It could turn out that the price is nearly the same because of the bills.

From personal experience I would go with the randoms. It's so much better to live with other people and you get to meet different kinds of people too. Yeah it's pot luck but go for it!

Randoms all the way. after experiencing living on my own for 3 months after my flat mates moved out, I wouldn't want to do it again any time soon. Then again, I was in the pub pretty much every night because I had nothing else to do, that was good lol.

I've been lucky so far that the randoms I've lived with have been ok.

One lad who was a random I reckon I'll know for the rest of my life.

So yeap - randoms all the way - you meet new people and the company's nice during evenings and weekends. Being alone all the time can be desolate, if you need some alone time - then that'll be what you have your room for.

1 bedroom flat here: £1200 pcm :p

I've lived in a few r"random" places - some I loved and others I really really didn't. But you're renting, you can always move and you save money, so if you're easy going I'd say go for shared :)

My own order of preference;

1) Live with mates/partner.
2) Live alone.
3) Live with randoms.

Same here. I've lived on my own and it's nice to have your own space, so long as you have friends and stuff to do.

could end up like i have in my uni halls though and have one of the randoms be what you totally hate which could ruin it all, but then again i guess with proper housing you wouldn't get people like that because they wouldn't be able to afford it.

On your own if you can afford it, in a shared place if you can't.

Have to agree with this. After going to boarding school and then on to uni for a few years there's no way in hell i'd go back to sharing with flatmates... especially randoms. As you get older and mature you need your own space, it's very important imo. My home is my personal sanctuary where I can escape and shut the door on the world. If there's mess it's my mess. If there's noise it's my noise. If there's the sounds of people having sex at silly hours at least I know it's me making it, and if there's a queue for the bathroom I know i'm being robbed.:D

Sharing for the lose, unless it has breasts.
