My Skydive Video

America is great for a cheap and fun way of getting into the sport. However the UK has the safest or at least a much more thorough legislation for skydiving. I'd rather get my BPA (A-licence) than any other one really. Then when you've done 100 jumps or so you'll have the savvy to know what's safe and what's not and at least make sensible decisions of what is and what isn't in your skill.

Yeah that's what am doing, well by 100 jumps you are probably going to have a B licence anyway, but after I get my licence I am saving up for my own rig, then I want to travel around the UK/Spain/Italy and jump wherever I can.

Thanks Freefaller, you're better at explaining these things than me!! In my case I actually brought a British instructor with me. That way I got the best of both worlds - high quality instruction from a BPA instructor, and cheap prices and great facilities in Deland. However, I qualified under a USPA rating. This worked fine for me, as strictly speaking, I can change this to an Irish certification without any extra conversion training (although I'll be quite suprised if the instructors in Ireland don't insist on a check jump or two - I haven't jumped at home yet and they don't know me from Adam).

Wow, just watched the vid properly. The fisheye lens doesnt help the "BLERK!" factor of the shuffle down the aisle of the plane and the first view out the hatch :o

Well done on the "yeah!" though :)

Yeah me too, its great!! Didn't Vanilla do well  There's so much to remeber to do, the brief looks something like this -

CHECK IN, CHECK OUT, PROP(look at propeller), UP, DOWN, (exit)ARCH
BREATH, HORIZON, ARCH
CHECK ALITITUDE
CHECK LEFT (REACT TO ANY SIGNALLED INSTRUCTION, CONTINUE ON THUMBS UP)
CHECK RIGHT (REACT TO ANY SIGNALLED INSTRUCTION, CONTINUE ON THUMBS UP)
BREATH, HORIZON
ARCH, REACH, TOUCH, BOX, BREATH
ARCH, REACH, TOUCH, BOX, BREATH
ARCH, REACH, TOUCH, BOX, BREATH
HORIZON, ARCH
CHECK ALITITUDE
CHECK LEFT (REACT TO ANY SIGNALLED INSTRUCTION, CONTINUE ON THUMBS UP)
CHECK RIGHT (REACT TO ANY SIGNALLED INSTRUCTION, CONTINUE ON THUMBS UP)
BREATH, HORIZON, ARCH
CHECK ALTITUDE, LOCK ON AT 6000
AT 5500 WAVE, ARCH, REACH, PULL

-All in around sixty seconds, almost quicker than it takes too read all that!! Trust me, its a lot to take in, and he's made it look much easier than it is.
And then comes canopy time, loads more stuff to remember check and do, and probably the most nervy bit, cause you're on your OWN from there

Thanks for the post Vanilla, that got my blood going again! When's your AFF II?

I stopped because of the cold! Will probably start up again in May. Will probably need to redo the ground school for the most part because of the length of time passed!
