My SLK LPG Converted

I don't really understand why if you wanted an LPG SLK you'd waste it on the 200 and not just get a 280 or a 350 as a sensible base.

By the sound of that clip it absolutely doesnt want to rev at all
I didn't past over 4k rpm, still public road and i was afraid. Next time with the roof down, the sound will be better.

You were afraid? Of what? Going over 4k rpm in an slk200. Surely it's barely moving unless you give it much more than that :P

I feel this thread isn't for me as someone who did over 20k in the first year of ownership when I had my e39 M5.

Please don't be tempted to film yourself driving like a muppet by internet trolls.

If you want to show off your driving skills head over to the Nürburgring.

Last Saturday i try to change my break pads and break discs. But in the process i manage to damage the thread from the wheel hub. I went to a local garage and the chap told me that i have a few option:
1- ebay, couldn't find any rear wheel assemble hub for my slk 200
2- MB, they told me £570 for the hub ( dam, left arm starts to get numb, my lips starts to crinkle =)
In the end he was kind enough and drill bigger hols and put some kind of threads there. Now the car is fix.
Well this will teach me a lesson.

You UK boys are new to LPG.
In Poland we get porshes on LPG.....
LPG is good when your doing **** loads of miles on concurrent petrol prices

You always get people who have never owned an LPG car bad mouthing them but unless they've actually owned one there is very little room to comment let alone reel off rubbish they may have read or been told.

I do own one, Bought an LPG Focus a while back & pay 70p a litre for my fuel & have never looked back since. It's an old 51 plate but has only just turned 60k so just run in. For me it means driving anywhere I want when I want without worrying about how much it's costing me. Those that have more money can do what they want but for me it's LPG all the way.
I honestly cannot understand anybody that would buy a car without getting an LPG one, Just doesn't make sense to me to buy a car that costs 1.40 a litre ??? (not bought much lately :p) when you can buy one that costs 70p a litre.

Somebody much more intelligent than me will have to explain it to me. + :D

LPG isn't as efficient as petrol so even if the cost of the fuel is half, you don't automatically double your MPG. Spending £1000 on an LPG system to not worry about fuel costs is slightly counter-productive when £1000 would buy me 14 full 55 litre fill ups which would last me 8,000 miles, I'd probably have to do 30,000 or 40,000 miles before I'd see any 'saving'. If it was fitted to a car already I wouldn't mind, but only something with a V8 where the saving would be noticeable.

The government will start taxing LPG more to get people into Hybrids and electric cars anyway, it'll happen soon enough.

No body is badmouthing it, they're just questioning the economics behind it.

I agree Janesy - For me I spent 900 quid on the whole car with around 55k up it with long MOT & Tax & Full history. If I had more money or was one of you guys I'd do the same & buy an old LPG Motor like mine then I'd run summit real nice for the weekend.

I have always wanted to do this with a Lexus LS400 as a daily but always end up chickening out. Even went out to check some cars but it's the initial cost of the system that puts me off. I only do around 15k a year but would be nice to drive around in a big lazy V8 without worrying about the wallet.

Tempted to get my next car LPG converted if not already done. Would need to be a half decent one though as it's a bit risky doing it on a 10+year old car that might die unexpectedly! :p

66mpg in a 12 year old 4WD Golf?

Or is it LPG converted too? Thats still 40mpg+

Good skim read A+++

Didn't an Australian haulage company run half their fleet on LPG. And engines were lasting much longer as LPG causes less engine wear.

Go for it, get a decent system and you'll have no problems. The conversion costs are not really an issue anymore.
