The overall price is much higher than i was expecting but the main thing that concerns me is the power supply, i used 1 of those power supply calculator sites and it rated all this at around 500w. I know corsair are good quality but not sure if 620 is gonna be enough especially for future upgrades like ram etc. Opinions?

The Corsair will easily be enough, it will give you roughly 620w if necessary because it is a good quality PSU and it is rated correctly. If it helps they (Corsair) have tested it with a quad-core and 2x8800GTXs so your system will be fine with it.

PSU calculators also tend to go for full load even though most of the time your system will be nowhere near it plus some are rather inaccurate. :)
 
well i dont have a TB of data to put on them just now if you mean that. Im planning on using the 2 7200.10 drives in raid 0 for all my o.s, apps and non important stuff that can be reinstalled etc. And planning on using the 500gb drive as just storage along with a 250gb drive i have in this system im on just now. Do you think thats overkill then? i was thinking for the price/usefulness of more space it was just worth it
 
awsome spec, but do you need that much storage, instad of the Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB get 2 36Gb raptors, keep the 500Gb for documents Etc, 1 raptor for games 1 for windows
 
well ive seen a lot of people saying the 7200.10 drives are just as fast if not faster than raptors, and they seem similarly priced except 1 is 320gb and 1 is 36gb or am i missing something else there

Also should add im putting vista 64bit ultimate on this machine, i was considering 4 sticks of ram but not sure if i wanna push the price up another 100 for nothing worthwhile
 
hmm it would save money doing that..i seem to run of space really quick for apps with a 30gb hdd in this sys though. I know 640gb is overkill for it but do you really think raptor drive speeds justify picking it over the 7200.10's? especially since its only saving £40? i do prefer the idea of 1 fast drive over 2 in raid to limit chance of data loss but i think its a little low on capacity and the next raptop up is more expensive than both current drives

edit - i was at 1 point considering 3x 7200.10 320gb drives and having just that in with raid 5 but heard thats gonna task the cpu quite a lot.

i think 2Gb will do it for vista, dont bother gettin for sticks cuz you'll want free slots for the future whe nyou can have like 4 gb in 1 stick if you know what i mean
 
ok after mulling it over ive changed it to 2x 36gb raptor drives now in raid 0. This way i still have the 500gb for storage and i have a 250gb drive from this system for storage too, thanks for the input - i think raid 0 with 640gb is maybe just a bit too crazy. I would have loved 3 of those drives in raid 5 though, dont wanna mess up my sys performance for the cpu though
 
i wouldnt get the 36gb raptors.

Game these days are so large.

Hell I installed splinter cell the other day. 10gb it took of the hdd. :S

Thank god I personally brought 2x320gb hdd.

my 250gb is totally filled up.
