Went for the Athlon over Intel as I would like to keep my agp graphics card, and have had some trouble finding a motherboard to take it.

£600 is my limit, and I would be willing to put off buying the monitor (lowering the budget to around £550) if the extra cash would make a significant improvement in the system. I also only picked the titan case as I think it looks good, but again I am not too fussed as it's whats on the inside that counts (as I am always told).

Uses: Champo, Surfing, Multimedia work & some gaming (ie BF2)

I wouldn't mind having a go at overclocking but would not be too worried about future proofing it - this will be my lot for a few years.

Been looking around for a while now, and it's starting to hurt my head - any help will be much appreciated !

What is your current monitor ?
Why have you got this CB-053-GE Akasa SATA-2 45cm Silver Data Cable (CB-053-GE) £3.99 £3.99 ?

Just spotted, you have a 939 mobo with an AM2 cpu. You need the addon on board for that mobo to use AM2 cpu's and they are not out yet or very rare. So either change the cpu or change your choice of mobo and ram.

hi, cheers for getting back.

Got the cable as it was recommended under the hard drive (and I currently only have an IDE (20gb !) hard drive so I thought it was needed.

Good spot on the cpu.

I currently have a 17inch CRT monitor which, although not great, could continue to be adequate for a while longer yet.

Anyone got any other thoughts re: the system and also what is the deadline for the next day delivery ?

I'd advise you to re-think, and go PCI-E / Conroe if at all possible, or at least get a dual-mobo as Tetras suggested. If you stick with AGP now, you'll have no real upgrade option other than to build another PC in a few years.
 
Cheers for that, although I am not too bothered about future upgrades as this is the first i have done for about 3 to 4 years so by the next time i start thinking about it I am pretty sure things would have advanced a lot.
