My Steam is broken

my steam is broken or something. when i right click on it, it gives me an empty bar about half a cm thick where it used to give me the friends, games, and other stuff. then when i open it up, EVERYTHING is blank. where my games used to be is blank, the tabs are blank, only the frame of the window and the online/ community page shows up. can anyone tell me whats wrong with it?

Very odd was working happily when i last tried to use it a couple of weeks back.

Ive tried deleting the config file so it reupdates but the problem remains.

dont worry fixed it. Was due to a missing font. Think CCleaner deleted it for me which is a bit annoying

Ok its still broken but different issue. I fixed the missing writing with above fix.

My issue now is that no valve steam games run. They all start loading then error screen. Tried trackmania and that was fine so its just valve games. Tried hl2 and it wanted me to defrag the files which i did but its still not working.

Ive never had problems before and up untill now have been very impressed with steam.

I recently installed avast? could that be something to do with it? Is there any fix anyone can think off.

Just try reinstalling Steam, also get it to verify the game files.

how do i get it to verify files? i removed that config file and that made it redo the updates. This didn't work unfortunately.

Not sure if deleting the clientregistry.blob file will help? I know it can help if games don't want to update correctly.

tried all last night. Nothing worked though tf2 does work so i was wrong with my steam only games.

Both Counter Strike and HL2 dont work but both needed defragging before it would let me even try, i did the check cache thing too. Think ill try deleting and then reinstalling them. All very odd.
