I've been using the SteelSeries Mouse for about 2 weeks now.It was bought for me as a present :D

First impressions were good. It's a larger than average mouse that would fit larger hands better than smaller ones.It has a sloping back rather than a raised one, more like a Logitech mouse rather than the hump-backed style of the Razer Diamonback. It's also a little lighter than my old razer diamondback. No driver cd was supplied, but you can download the software from steelseries themselves. Also of note is that because of the 2 buttons either side of the mouse wheel your fingers will be spread apart more than usual.

Within windows, the mouse tracks fast and true with options within the software to change polling rate and DPI values if needed. You also have the options to change the illumination (colour and pulse rate)

I play a reasonable amount of WoW..maybe 10-15 hours a week. How does the mouse perform? As a mouse,it performs well.I have had none of the button issues that some people have reported (sticking right - left click buttons).I use a few UI addons (as do most players) one of which is Bartender. The mouse software is next to useless with this addon as it doesnt allow for keymappings to be assigned to buttons on the mouse. So in order to use any of the 15 buttons this mouse offers I'll have to go back to a standard UI.

What is needed is a function similar to Uberoptions for Logitech mice..an ability to map keyboard keys to the mouse buttons.A massively simple solution that has yet to be implemented.

This could have been the ultimate mouse for WoW users (I know that 6 thumb buttons would have given me the edge in PvP) but it simply isn't.Poorly designed software lets it down.So much so that I'll be buying a Logitech mouse, purely for the excellent software support.

really ?

it's coming up to 3 years old i think.

would they still replace it after all this time ?

send em an email if it's faulty lots of people have had replacements well out of warranty with no prof of purchase etc, they just ask for a picture of it destroyed.

Can't hurt to ask :)

Tried one myself once.

Uncomfotable, awkward, heavy, ugly as sin and a price tag that is ALL badge.

If you want to spend £70 on a mouse, spend £15 more and get a Mamba.

pfft spend a little bit less and get a mx revolution.

Or spend half the price on a Death Adder (like mine), my point was if you "really" feel the need to spend £70+, the Mamba is the only option you should look at.

I would get the Mamba over the MX, such a nice mouse, actualy worth the price tag in my opinion.

p.s. yes I know I am probably a Razer fanboy.

broke my deathadder yesterday ordered a new one today :D best mouse ever used, don't really see the need for a lot of thumb buttons whats wrong with the keyboard and a couple of thumb buttons :z

was wondering if you can assign the buttons to the action bars?

I know you can set it to functions like mount/dismount, bring up map etc

but could i set the 4 way button to say key bind 1 (i.e keyboard button 1) on my action bar so I could say as defensive warrior have:

button to taunt
button to slam
button to rend etc

I've been looking into buying a better mouse actually, but when I say better I mean one with more thumb buttons. I dont think I'll ever find an "upgrade" to my 518 really.

Mouse buttons really are the best in MMO's though, you'll understand why once you've pressed the same button 50million times, or struggled to quickly click deathcoil or something equally life saving!
