This is what happens when you ram a memory card into a slot loading DVD rom drive and get it stuck!!!!

Laptops only a month old

Why's the whole thing been torn apart? Last DVD drive I took out of a laptop was held in by 3 screws and then you just pull it out

because its a stupid dell studio where you have to rip the entire thing to bits before you can access the optical drive. Then I had to open that up before the damn card would fall out

good job I found the tech manual online else I'd have never managed it

god im not happy at all!!!!

oh btw, your sig speaks the truth! That's where she'll be spending most of her time from now on

A colleague had to swap the drive on one of these today, total nightmare, most laptops just have one screw and the drive slides out, these are pretty much a full strip down :(

How many screws did you have left?

Dang, I was considering getting a Studio 17 with a DVD drive with a view to upgrading to Bluray later on if I felt a need.

Don't massively fancy stripping the whole thing down to do it really.

lol, you know everyone I've told has asked that same question.

The answer is........unfortunately, 2

and I was SO careful

Lol, reminds me about an old gent who came into the PC shop where I worked many years ago.
He had somehow managed to push a cd into the laptops screen.
He said" I though the laptop would need to see the cd to read it".
Sigh.

Now that's some seemingly impossible lack of computer knowledge
Makes you fearful to let any old folks even have them lol.
