Right my system has the following fans running

Cosmos S case:

250mm side fan - its quiet - intake

1 x front mounted 120mm cooler master fan - intake

1 x rear mounted 120mm Red wing fan 19db speed setting - extraction

3 x top mounted 120mm Red wing fan 19db speed setting - extraction

1 x cpu cooler mounted 120mm Red wing fan 19db speed setting

All fans are set at 19db or less. When working out the noise would you add all the 19db together or would all of them running in theory be no louder than 19db.

If so why dose my PC sound louder than my washing machine…. Ok not really but it is very loud im beginning to think that it is the graphics card GTX280. are there any efficient quiet ways of cooling this card without water?

the reason i thought it was the graphics card is that the system is quiet up untill windows starts then you can hear something spin up, but my main grpe is when playing a game in the evening the card is so loud.

will try taking a couple fans off but temps are so nice with all these:) 28,28,26,26 at idle and 36,36,32,32 whilst playing a game and burning a cd...

and the other half always has the heating up real high.... at least im cool next to the pc lol...

i have been disconnecting fans to see if the sound level changes.....not really its got to be the Graphics card so whats the best passive cooler for these? dont really want another fan or i could move one i suppose

thanks for that reply checked my cheap 750w psu and yes it was that fan totally forgot that there was one in there thanks.

changed the psu for a red wing job done.

all 7 fans plus 250mm side fan running real quite now.:D

q6600 now running @ 3.707ghz on air idle (internet/listening to music) 39,39,37,37 in a warm room.

used intel thermal anaylsis tool 100% cpu usage temps got to 76c which im quite happy with for running 3.7ghz on air
