Hey guys,

So iv got a new watercooling loop cooling vga and cpu, a using 360 rad, 240 rad and a 120rad.

I have an i7 920 d0 yet I'm idling around 40-45 and load around 70.

Iv used new thermal paste and spread evenly, the gpu is only idling at 25 degree.

I'm oc to only 3.3ghz but when I went to stock speeds there was only one or two degree decrease in temp not much.

I have 11 120mm case fans on 12v so there is no shortage or airflow.
5 intake 5 exhaust and one on the side panel blowing on the rear of the mobo at the cpu
Please advise.

Sounds like you aren't getting a good mount on the CPU block, or maybe it's clogged up inside?

You say the thermal paste is spread evenly, is that you spreading it or the CPU block? If the former I'd give it ago leaving the spreading down to the block, that way you won't get any air trapped from uneven spreading.

Thanks for the input,

I stripped it all down and gave it a very very thorough clean, Re-applied my paste in the above mentioned way but it hasn't made a blind bit of difference tothe idle temp unfortunately.

However under stress test it does not go over 65 which is an improvement.

any idea why my idle is so high, this is a fresh windows install so no crap running.

It could be flow rate in the loop depending on the pump setup you have. (or a clogged block as said above)

My gpu idles around 40 degrees with an aqua computer waterblock and 3 remounts and a change of thermal paste hasn't made any difference. I'm yet to work out why.

Hmmm those temps do seem high for what your setup is, my CPU never hits 70 and my 920 is OC'd and I have to cool 2 x 480's which are also OC'd. I would suggest remounting your CPU block maybe. Also maybe still a lot of air in your rads maybe?
