Just to set the scene, I'm still fairly new to photography but have recently invested in the Fujifilm X-T1 and a few lenses due to the £300 cash back offer Fuji were running until the end of March.

A friend and I went to the Wasps vs Gloucester Stinger at Twickenham on Saturday and I decided to take the XT-1 along with the 18-55 kit lens, XF35 prime and XF 55-200.

I'm certainly still learning and have a real hunger to keep practicing, especially with the amount of money I've invested so far and plan to invest in the future. I'm also even more of a novice when it comes to post-processing, so most of the shots are simply converted from RAW with some slight adjustments. The only exception being some of the shots of the actual game, as the 55-200mm simply wasn't long enough.

Feedback is always welcome and I'll be asking a lot of questions in this thread as I start to learn a lot more.

Nice set of shots, shame about the result :D

How are you finding the X-T1? The only thing stopping me from selling up all my gear and moving to Fuji at the moment is the hassle!

Sorry, hadn't seen that some had replied to the thread. Not a shame for me as a Wasps fan, ha!

I'm absolutely loving the X-T1, but I'm not sure if our experiences will be similar because of the fact I definitely upgrade from a cheaper CSC setup (NX300). I believe you shoot with a 5DMIII?

One of the main selling points of the X-T1 for me was the dials as they're great for changing settings on the fly without having to stop composing a scene. As a side effect, the manual approach to the Fuji is helping me to understand more about exposure & focusing.

I think multiple review sites out there have agree on the following "cons" of the Fuji X-T1 systems:

  • Max shutter speed is 1/4000, could be an issue in bright conditions with lowest native ISO being 200
  • The 4 way d-pad buttons aren't as ergonomic as previous Fuji bodies
  • Lack of HSS flash system/immature flash system
  • Poor movie quality & control

The build quality is absolutely fantastic (probably amplified by Samsung's terrible build quality), as are the lenses. Looking forward to picking up the 56mm f1.2 as every place is raving about this piece of glass. I'm undecided as to wether to sell the 35mm f1.4 and pick up the 23mm f1.4. Then for WA, pick up the 14mm f2.8 prime or the 10-24 f4.
