My Tom Tom dont work

I just recieved my Tom Tom GO500 today (about an hour ago) Wasn't expecting delivery till next week, and thought I'd have a play (set it up etc...)

I connected the power, Plugged in the Tom Tom SD card and Pressed the Power button (2 seconds).

I got the Tom Tom Splash screen (with the drums), then the screen showing a piccie of the unit with its name... This is as far as it will go!... according to the setup blurb I should get a Language screen etc... but I don't.

Am I doing somthing wrong?... Do I need to regester it with Tom Tom before turning it on?... as I can't get the Product code without booting it up!.

Heeeeeelllllpppp!...

I think they mabe a little reset hole in the back of the unit, give that a go.........

Done that 3 times so far!...

getting a bit peed off with it now!... I've had it 1.5 hours... Cost me nearly £300 and its not working!... :mad:

Mine did this... i left it for about 30 mins on that screen and it was fine.

If its the first time you have used it, it needs to set itself up me thinks.

Mine did it after i updated the speed camera database.

Ok, sounds like u have a borked Tom Tom, send that sucka back.....

I think you're right mate. Though you should fully star out that swear word as the mods don't like it.

I'll give this a go!... I'm maby a bit impatient!... I only left it on that screen for 5 mins (or so!)...

I've sent a mail to Tom Tom!.

But I'll leave it till 2:30ish and see...

Does it matter at this point that the windows in this building have a reflective coating?... though I did try it outside at one point too!?..

The language screen should pop up just after the drum roll. If it doesn't, even after you've reset it, then it must be broken.

Is this the TT with the Hard Drive inside?
If so, can you feel it whiring/buzzing?

At this stage it doesnt need to have any signal. I say keep it on for a bit longer and see what happens.

I thought the TomTom 700 only came with the harddrive, I could be wrong......

Think you could be right on that one mate.

Thats the one i had the splash screen problems with anyways.

It might be the same for this one too... time shall tell.

Phoned Tom Tom... Went through a few things... He said "It sounds like its DOA"... So Contacted Amazon... Setup a Return and Replace...

Should get it Tue/Wed Next week (which is when I was expecting this one!!), with the other one being picked up Monday!.

I'll keep you posted on weather this one works or not!.. :rolleyes:

Make sure it's fully charged, take out the SD card and then try another reset, worth a try.

Dun all that!... its boxed up now with the returns sticker on the box waiting for D(ocuments) H(oplesly) L(ost) to pick it up on Monday!...
