Went to Mallory Park on saturday for a novice only day, took the RF600 and had a great time!!

Got 6 20 minute sessions, a lot of time for £90.

This is a vid from my 4th session of the day, not all of it as youtube dont like 18 min vids!
Be sure to watch it in 720p!!

Im really happy that you posted this vid! Im at mallory on friday for my first track day!

The new surface on that track looks beautiful!

How grippy was it?

Well I never had any drama at the speed I was going, got a little twitchy when I went a bit too quick into the first corner, was off line as I was passing a couple of bikes.

Other than that its great, be sure to warm your tyres up for the first couple of laps, there were a few spills over the day and always at the start of a session, they cover this in the breifing though.
They also had people there for advice on tyre pressures, set up etc, they'll do your pressures if you take the bike to the pit garages.

They took us for 3 sighting laps at the start and being a small track its very easy to remember.

Just take it easy to start with and you'll have great fun!

:D

Yea they're great fun but I can't see myself being able to afford enough to warrent a track only bike.

Ive got vouchers for a day at Bedford Autodrome so ill go there and see whre the bug takes me.....

:p

Oh the joys of Novice TD Traffic :p

Nice vid, pretty good for your first one :) next you will be buying a van and Genny for warmers :D

Considering I was on one of the oldest bikes there (97) and it only being a 600 I expected to get left behind by the quicker newer stuff, not the case though!!

I cant afford to get carried away with the track day bug, got enough to eat my wages as it is!!

Put another vid up too, will link it in the first post.

:D

Wow, some serious complements there, cheers!

My lines were a bit all over the place but slow traffic did make it difficult to keep to consistant lines and try and get a bit quicker.

I tried in one session to start leaning more off the bike and hang my knee out like a pro but I just ended up going slower so I decided to keep my knee's where they normally are, well off the tarmac!! Seems to work ok for now.

Ive just booked up for Bedford Autodrome on the 25th Jume, looks a bigger track with a few more quicker corners and longer straights so the 600 might not have the legs!

Stuck with the novice group but if im a fair bit quicker ill look at moving up to the inters, maybe learn a bit more following more experienced people.

A few pics of Mallory Park, a not so beat up 600 :p

Cant say im a fan of the puke green leathers but they were 50 quid so they'll do!

Plenty of lean and you're making the same mistake I did on my first track day, not pulling my toes up onto the pegs. If you move them up onto the pegs except when you need to brake or change gear you'l have an extra bit of space to lean further. Try doing it on the road to get used to it.

I actually do that anyway, the size 12's are always getting in the way!!

From the pics its obvious im not getting them far enough out the way so its definately something to work on before the next track day.
