Hi Guys
A few months back i sold my old vr4 to fund a new project. I wanted to try a camper, and started out with a real cheap swb mid top transit. Only cost £2.3k but since getting it I've had a bit of work done.
Not to everyones taste, but I love it. The van is in great condition for its age and miles.. most I looked were really in quite poor condition but this has been used as a car for the last 5 years.
I had the van serviced and the discs and pads replaced, that was about it mechanically that was needed. I then had a joiner fit out the back of the van with bathroom panel sheets which was a great idea by my good friends at my garage. The walls are white wood and the ceiling is white and chrome
I ended up just getting the joiner to fit wall units on the floor along with a little sink. Ive plumbed in a push tap and waste of course.
The transit has its battery under the drivers seat, so along with a new single passenger seat to allow walk through, another battery box was fitted under it with the lesuire battery. A split charge system and 12v sockets were fitted too along with led lighting. I put a cheap headunit in with usb/sd capability as well.
The most expensive part was the bed, but having one like this worked well in my opinion. Its pretty solid and slides from the seat into a bed and bacl pretty easily.
A side window was added at the last minite, tinted of course. I also have a set of thermal blinds for it which help keep the pesky sun out in the morning
Next list of things to do are:
Paint the internal area above the front seats
Carpet to be fitted (got dark grey carpet tiles)
Might get a 10" tablet, but the laptop does for now
Fanbelt squeeling a little - need to investigate
Full wash and polish
Underseal the front (only had enough for 1/2)
Brake light flashing when indicator is on sometimes - need to investigate
I was away this weekend near Campbeltown and was in it for 3 nights. It was great... not too cold at all, and I just used a normal double sleeping bag.
I know its not for everyone, but for £4k overall im happy with the results.
Plan is to travel to most of the islands, ive done quite a few before but I'd like to visit Colonsay and Jura for example and stay a few days at a time.
A few pics... not great, just ones I happened to take:
I cant be the only one with camper love? Anyone else?
