Hey all, so I sold off my 2500k setup, and have gone up to an Intel Core I7 3930k 6 - Core CPU, Asus P9x79 Motherboard, 16gb G.Skill Ripjaws Z X79 Quad channel RAM, but kept my Silverstone RV02 Raven, 750w Corsair T750V2, Corsair H80 watercooler, and my 60gb OCZ Agility 3 SSD (boot drive).
First impressions? Wow. Just WOW. Unbelievable. This packs such a punch, (the 2500k was damn good too) but this is just out of this world. I haven't even OC'd yet. I don't intend to for a while either. I am just shocked as to how powerful it really is. I'll post some benchmarks later, but I am just utterly chuffed right now.
In total, I've spent £700, but got £300 from my old stuff, so really only had to pay most of the difference of the processor. It is absolutely fantastic and I totally recommend it to anyone that has the money to. If you have a budget of around 900 (fresh build) go SB-E. (if thats what your looking for, a uber powerful machine) because with Ivy-E support, you can always upgrade later.
Anyways, Im currently also rocking a Xonar D2 soundcard, and HD6950. Happy with this at the moment. Thinking of another 16gb ram to make 32gb just for E-peen tbh. can get it for 49.99 with a voucher. what can you guys recommend I get? I don't really need an SSD however I've sourced 120gb OCZ Revodrives at £140. Are these worth it? (for a boot drive with some games)
Thanks! And thanks for the help in getting me here! wouldn't have upgraded if it wasnt for you guys
