it was asking for me to activate for ages, saying key was already in use etc..
well yes the key would have been in use if i had already bloody activated with it!.

so this morning i rebooted and it wouldnt let me back in windows, i tried phoning the automated service and that was useless. Entered all the numbers on the screen and it said it was not recognised, did it 3 times to make sure and still didnt work.

I dunno what caused it to happen in the first place but its annoying if im going to get this every time i do something with my computer

its like i have a pirated version, the reason i bought it is to avoid this rubbish.

what can i do now?

i'm on XP on my other partition for now.
 
hmmm, you could just get a pirated version.... kidding! :p im guessing its because you did not activate and it doesnt allow anything to happen. would a reinstall be quicker? ive never had that happen before but i remember xp did something like that with the validation thing.
 
Phone them up again, when it tells you to enter the first range of numbers, don't enter anything and wait, it will then transfer you so you can speak to someone.

u mean the american service? why dont they have a british one?

i already activated it when i first installed windows so i dont get it.. i paid more for the retail version why should i get this?
 
Phone them and speak to a real person,this happened to me they said its a known problem,they gave me a new key to enter and I was all sorted in 5 mins.
