My worry with Crysis

Hype.

That's right, hype. There's more to a game than lush graphics. I'd rather have gameplay over lush graphics. Now, with all this hype about how realistic the dog's dangleys look have the developers of Crysis basically said:

Sod gameplay, our main priority is graphics
If we've got enough space on a disk, we'll add half decent gameplay

I'm going to reserve judgement until the actual game comes out but even you as a reader has to admit, if it does not deliver, this could potentially be the most hyped, pants game ever made.

Honestly cant see it being a flop...To much effort has gone into the design and feel of the game to just have the gameplay let it down. Crysis will be the next, big FPS...No doubt in my mind.

tbh, the same coud've - and was - been said about Far Cry. Excellent graphics, even today, but the challenge was absolutely immersive.
Having said that, its probably too early to say.

It does look good though. :)

From what I've seen of the gameplay, for example, when you're switching between that array of different weapon modes or switching the settings on your suit to adjust your combat style. Or when I've seen how you can use the environment in pretty much every possible way to assist you. Or when I've seen how the realistic the AI seems as it runs and ducks for cover, tries to flank you and whatnot, I have had no doubts that the gameplay will be intense.

There has to be a good story to back it up though. Even the most intense gameplay will get boring if it seems you aren't actually getting anywhere or achieving anything.

FEAR is the most recent example. Awesome graphics and at times **** scary moments. But it lacks a decent story and eventually the gorgeous graphics doesn't make up for the run down corridor, kill people in slow-mo, run down another corridor, repeat.

There is no way you are from London, only people from Bristol and surrounding west country use the word "lush".

On Topic: I would just forget about the game, then be pleasantly surprised when its released. There is always hype - easiest way is to just ignore it.

have you seen the demo theyre gunna realease to us in month or so man its amazing . watched the whole level and must say i know its awesome.

Im worried the different abilities will make the game too complex. Call me old fashioned but i'd rather just be given a gun and a mission.

Now a demo is something i would like to see, can imagine how hellishly slow it will be to download though (with everyone in the world wanting it,) and i'm betting its going to be at least 1gb

Agreed, especially after seeing that multiplayer video with the guy speeding around.

The only worry I have is that ill get struck by lightning and never get to play it due to its constant delays in release.

Seriously though I've given up hoping that any game that gets released nowadays redefines a genre simply because those types of game's only seem to come around once every 10 years or so. I'm not expecting Crysis to become the must own FPS but as long as it's fun to play while I am in to it then I cant really have any complaints.

As a side note when I'm in the heat of battle I very rarely notice how good the graphics are in a game is anyway

I can see it being rubbish, I really hope it's not. But too many people enjoy pretty graphics over game play. I haven't played any graphically nice games, that have had game play as well.

The games that actually have game play seem to be flops apart from a few thousand hardcore gamers.

Far cry? HL2?

Both of those games had good, innovative gameplay and were the best looking game around when they were released.

no idea, hopefully good, i'm like you single player doesn't hold much interest unless it's exceptional, it's the talent of other real players that make it worth while.
