My x1950Xt is getting noisy

For some reason over the last week my ati radeon x1950 XT has been getting very noisy and has had the temp rising to 81c when it is idle. Something clearly is not right, so I checked the fan for blockages and there seems to be no prob there! So kinda like a big mystery.

Has anyone heard about this before?

Is it a HIS model?

IIRC, some of them suffered from fnoisy fans / fan failure.

Either the fan is failing (high pitched noise) or the heatsink is no longer making good contact with the GPU and so the card is spinning up the fan to try and cool it down.

or your case has become much hotter.

It's sapphire, I think it might have something to do with the sudden onset of the humidity in the weather but it just doesn't seem right.

When You say noisey You mean the fan is spinning faster ?
If You have blown the GFX cooler through with compressed air then look to Your case Fans and filters
Also make sure its not driver or software related (something using the GPU in the background) or the Cooler mounting screws loose/stripped/missing

They have a poorly designed square edjed fan that is the cause of the noise, If You can make a some kind of duct from Your front case fans You will drop the temps 20c
