Was woundering if all is well? Used some mx 1 paste with plastic bag over finger using freezer bag (hard since most stuck to bag lol) and some a tiny bit just so covered the heatsink copper plate. And a tiny tiny bit in center of cpu so when hsf went on it would spread it out just incase i did too little on cpu top.

Also installed the amd driver but not optimiser yet, duno if i should or need to? Do i, if so why and what will it help with.

Will temps go down at all if so by how much when paste has done 200hrs or whatever. Also should i not have set the core volts to 1.375 in bios (i think its 1.35 actual volts.) Or perhaps set to 1.35 which would have been 1.3v in actual? Since its rated to be ok from 1.3-1.35 on amd site.

Just expected temps to be 30 or lower at stock.

Also is there a benchmark i can do to see how well dual core is doing wana know if its working properly.

Cheers.

Anyone had a 3800+ x2 toledo E6 cpu, when they put it in temps were straight away low like 30ish idle? Just wounderin if mine should have been.

Does anyone think i should reapply the mx 1 paste this time according to mx1. Could it get better? Or shall i do what i was going to do and see how it goes for a week see if temps go right down while the paste settles?

Cos at stock i get 34-36 idle and everest stress test shoots the cpu up to 50c each core which surly isnt right for a suposable cool version of this stepping and chip?

I mean arctic freezer pro 64 aint a bad cooler its got 6 heatpipes and a good design and loads of ppl like it. So cant be cooler could it?

I thought these had the rep of been cool lol.

Tryed a slight overclock today.

HT 220
hyperthread thing 800
divider cpu/11 (5:3 it says in bios)
cpu volts 1.375 (1.35 actual) cos of asus volt screwups
mem was at 200 using divider (ddr 400)
stock geil value 2gb ddr timings of 3,4,4,8 for testing

Ran orthos at priority 5 for 12 mins went through 1 to 4 literations. Orthos was weirdly unresponsive compared to say everest window and task manager which i could move their windows about but touching orhos window just made it non responsive couldnt do anything with it till it restored stability on itself. Thought in orthos priority 1 mean max priority and priority 5 was medium but maybe im wrong i duno, im used to prime 95 not orthos settings.

Also at stock super pi latest one gave me 43 seconds. Whilst overclock to 2200 mhz gave me 47 seconds. Tho at stock im using tight ram timings 2.5,3,3,8 compared to oc at 3,4,4,8. Didnt think ram could effect it so much.

I tryed another oc to 2250

HT 225
Ram at 187 or somit (3:2 divider cpu/12)
800 hyperthreading
same 1.375 volts (1.35 actual)
MP 10

crashed when i got to desktop so i tryed rebooting but kept freezing the whole comp when trying to enter bios so i had to power off fully for 2 mins then try again luckily i could quickly get in bios to restore stock settings before a freeze again happened. So luckily didnt have to reset cmos.

Very disapointed. :(

One thing tho my temps on the cpu have gone to 31 idle per core with just having windows open and the side of case off a tiny bit so gap at top of side panel. (antec p160w case).

Dont like the added noise from the opened bit tho.

Hmm when changing cpu over i had the chance to clean the front air filter on my case but i didnt, was too eager to play on it lol. So today like 10 mins ago i took front facit off the case and the filter was all cloged up, so under the tap it went with some cotten buds to give it a good clean it now looks as good as new. Tho my akasa amber fan is trappedn in the front fan slot i cant get it out no matter what i try. Luckily it doesnt look too bad just a tiny bit of dust per fin even then its not all fins just a few. Anyhow i put front facit back on with nice new clean filter back in. And these are my temps with case side on now not slightly ajar as it was before.

2001199880939656197_rs.jpg

So perhaps it wasnt the paste i put on or the cooler. Was probably just the filter needed a clean and perhaps later invest in some more powerful fans. If i can ever get that pesky akasa amber 120mm out of the front. :p

Btw when orthos was going before i cleaned the filter it was going max of 46ish load 33 idle ish. That was with the side of case slightly ajar.

Might see how the max load temps are now so might post again later if its any better, wont bother posting if it didnt.

Yes your htt is way over the mark, drop ** htt to 3x like the nice fellow above suggested. Usually common to go to x3 when u hit 250 fsb mark. Regarding ram at 240 drop the multi to next level and it should go more towards 200.

Or try lower multiplier so instead of 10 go to 9, needs more fsb if ** mb supports it but might make 3ghz that way.

Btw Im orthosing my 2400 clock now, seems 1.375 in bios wasnt giving enough so i put it to 1.425 in bios (everest shows 1.4vcore) so been clocking and 2200 was fine for tests 1-4 for 20 mins, so i tryed 2400 and so far othos is ok.

Orthos test 1-5 took 20 mins with 2200 speed
Orthos test 1-5 took 17 mins with 2400 speed :)

Temps max load 53 total (core 1 55 core 2 53) mb temp 27 (lowers to 48/49 max load if i open case side a little.

Ram will go futher if you change it from 1T to 2T in bios. Should do i mean.

But 2.9ghz is nice overclock so well done you. Only hope mine can go that high. Btw what is stock volts as in ** pic you said stock volts and later said raised vcore to 1.4 but the pic previously at bottom showed 1.39v so does that mean you and others use 1.4v as stock? Not 1.35v?

Amd 64 cpus like 2 1gb sticks better than 3 or 4 512mb sticks.

Test 2500 speed now

1.4v
2500 speed
3x htt
266 divider (ram at 166 at mo cpu/15)
10 multiplier
ddr at 2.7v still

Temps with orthos on for 3 mins is 50 per core with side of case off a bit probably 53-54 with it on.

Settings ok does everyone think? Or should i have put htt to 4x and used cpu/12 divider for 208mhz ram?

Knocked the volts down after above was stable for 17 mins (tests passed 1-5) So gona see if stable with slightly less volts (was 1.425 in bios) now 1.4 in bios.

3rd min the temps are from everest 50 overall cpu, 54 core 1, 51 core 2, 27 for mb temp. Bout 2-3 degrees better. Tho dont like it when one core goes past 55 like did before on 1.425v. Was only brief tho.

Hmm with temps being near 50-55 at 2500 speed max load. Whats the opinion of going futher with the oc, perhaps 2.8ghz? Which im guessing if volts dont have to go up will be around 55 overall cpu, and core 1 and 2 will be between 54-57 ish at load. Since every 100 or 200 mhz up the temps only go up a few degrees.

Slight update.

Do u reckon i should prime more or go for another 100mhz jump? Keep in mind temps.

Btw orthos stable time 1 hr 35 mins so far (screenie slighly old)

Tryed 2700

Rebooted when i tryed winrar benchy. :( Even when upped volt to 1.5 in bios (1.45 ish in windows said)

Took down to

fsb 265
cas 3 again (crashed when tryed 2.5)

Winrar didnt show errors and went a min before i closed it on 2650 speed doin orthos small fft test as usual now lets see how that goes, went down volts to 1.45 in bios, everest shows 1.4 ish now.

Runnin it for a hour see how it goes.

2.7 aint possible it seems. :(

Its the ram holdin me back, every time i oc and try to get ram better either better divider or better timings than stock the oc fails sooner or later. Whats better 2500 or 2550 cpu with 212 speed ram stock timings or 2600 cpu with 170 or somit ram with stock timings. Maybe 2700 with 150 ram using highest divider. Might be ok tho if i did 2t not 1t but i think thats a high hit to performance

Yeah at 2550 cpu, stock timings 1t ram at 212 i think 7700 in pcmark 04, same cpu, 212 ram 2t stock settings 6800 pcmrk score. Cpu same 2t ram tight timings 6900 score. Weird lol. Even 2600 cpu 208 ram stock timings 2t was 6800 score. :(

Damn this ram. Least i know cpu can push to 2.7 at least with crap ram at 160 or somit and probably 1t. Ram MAYBE 180 on 2t.

Damn you geil i thought ud get me there. :(

On better ram that easily goes higher maybe pc4000 i think the cpu can go to 2.8 as long as temps dont go past 60/65 ish per core. Ah well. At the mo im on 2500 cpu and 166 ram 1t giving me 6600 points in pcmark its 1000 points more than stock. Will try messing with ram tomorrow for now im shattered.

Do you think this is a stable overclock.

Pc mark 04 fails when finished loading windows i started it failed on grammer test but went through to complete rest of tests. Ran it again and worked. Stable or not i duno but 6 hrs orthos blend stable. about a hour and a half on memtest for windows which stoped at 200% cycle with 2 going at same time using 750meg each. 55-58 max load temp.

HT 260
Multi 10
HTT x3
Vcore 1.450 in bios (about 1.425 estimated everest)
ddr volts 2.8
mem timings 2.5.3.3.8 1T
Mem running at 173
Pcmark 04 score 7100
3d mark 05 untested

Darn it, comp froze with the usual sound then turned off. Upped the volts to 1.475 in bios (1.45 ish now in windows everest) gona see how that is. Hope the 40 ish idle is ok tho for temps and 60 max load.
