Im pretty new to oberclocking graphics card although i did get 33 mhz extra outta a voodoo 3 2000 back in the day.

Anyway i got that ati tool which seems great, i did the max core test thing and it kept going away up to 460 mhz from 400, then in the heat up it crashed. I figured this was because it got to hot and i was probly at my limit. Ive got it running at 455mhz now. Is that a half decent clock for this card.

Im running a watercoolin rig with a maze 4 cpu and gpu block cooling a sapphire x800xl and a 3700 clawhammer (oced 200 herts).

Im going to run the max mem thing now but any thoughts on this so far?

Thanks

Without a volt mod I will be surprised if you get much higher; the x800xl's are not known for their clocking abilities.
The fact that you have it water cooled should discount heat as the issue...
My advice: either volt mod it, or be content with what you have. The memory will be able to overclock... but if you are aiming for the heavy heights of 500 etc on the core... I doubt it will happen.

good going anywho :)

Cheers man, i didnt get very far with the ram 520mhz before crash, its because the rams got no cooling, i took the stock cooler off to watercool it and didnt bother with ram sinks at the time. Running the ram at 504 just to be above 500 :D . Gonna 3dmark 2003 now, ive already had fps improvments in cs so im interested to see how many more points i got.

3dMark 2003 gave me 11240 which is up from 10601. That 55 herts was pretty rewarding.

Right so heres what we got:

xp3700 clawhammer @ 2600mhz (default multiplyer) 37C Idle - 47 MAX load
Geil 2 x 512 @ 216 fsb
Sapphire x800xl 453/504 34C idle - 45 MAX load

3dmark 2003 11240

Whatya think?

Thanks.

Hopefully with some ram sinks ill be able to clock the ram a bit higher than 520 which is usually where the card crashes. Looks like i might have to volt mod if i want more outta the cpu.

My X800XL doesnt go very far, I get 428 on core and 520 on memory before Ati tool detected artifacts. :(

Im not entirely sure if the artifact test is working to well on mine cause i never get artifacts, when ive gone to far my pc will just freeze in the heat up stage when using max gpu thingy.

Nice results, and good performance increase!

Dunno if anyone can help me out, but instead of posting in a seperate thread and creating more spam, ive been having problems with the ATI tool finding my card, ive got an x1800xt PE 512mb.

When i load it up or go into settings it doesnt detect my card :(

Manifest has already shown me the prog and we're both baffled.

Yeh it doesnt work straight away like mine did, when u got to choose the device it does show thats thers a pci-e device the. When u choose it it tells u to restart the program which does nothing, the device choice goes back to nothing.

Could be something to do with the flashedness of the card.....
