My xbox live subscription...

They will if the have your card details, from say buying it online before, or buying MS Points.

He bought it of eBay or something, MS cant charge you again for using a gametime card you bought yourself. They will charge if you use a credit/debit card, but he didn't.

Yes, but what I'm trying to say is that if at any point in time in the past he gave MS his card details (e.g. when buying MS points etc.), they will auto renew the subscription. MS will not remove your card details from your profile, even if you ask them.

yea i see what you mean now. Didn't think MS could do that! Thought you could remove your details through Dashboard.

I bought MS points off the marketplace and they never auto bill'd me for my live subscription.

I had been told about this by another forum member, so I phoned them before it was due to expire. I was told they could either put a note on the account to stop it auto billing me or delete my account  they were 'unable' (read: unwilling) to delete my card details. Of course, your mileage may vary.

Interesting reading, its against the Data Protection Act for them to refuse to delete any of your details you want them to.

'update' your card details with them then, say its a new card and numbers have slightly changed(last 4 digits + expire date) and it should be refused :)

No it isn't.

The DPA simply states that they give you access to the information. If you could request that someone deletes information about you, what's to say you couldn't phone your car loan company and have them delete all record of you?!

Well an update on this- - have checked my bank account and no money has been taken out since the 12th and my xbox live subscription is STILL running !

Should I do the honourable thing and ring MS - I dont particularly want a big bill in a few months time for it or do you reckon I could get away with it ?

It wont auto renew if you have bought from the Marketplace. Mines ran out last year and it didn't. The only way i knew i had gone to silver was cos i noticed some features where not there on xbox.com

I will be able to confirm in a couple of weeks as my Gold will run out, and i wont renew it right away, if at all.
