I bought a generic wireless receiver for my computer last month off of ebay and as of the 29th my official wireless controller will no longer sync up with it.

I saw a forum post somewhere (not this forum) stating that this was going to happen when the new windows update came out. (It didn't offer any solutions)

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there is a way around it without buying either a wired controller or a new receiver.

Please let me know as the one i have wasn't expensive but I try not to make a habit of wasting money.

Cheers, Nick

I have this problem everytime i remove my USB Wireless receiver, try doing the following

Right click on Computer
Go to Properties
Click on Device Manager
Right click on the Unidentified Device
Go to Properties
Go to the Drive tab
Click on Update Driver…
Browse my computer for driver software
Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
Microsoft Common Controller for Window Class
Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows Version: 2.1.0.1349 [8/13/2009]
Update Driver Warning
Click Yes

Does the receiver led light up when plugged into the usb port?

Yes it does it will just not sync any more. The receiver and the controller flashes but that's all. I have tried the device manager solution and it didn't change anything unfortunately.
