My Xfx 7970 Died

Well that I didn't know, I was just under the presumption that after the first year of warranty it was down to the manufacturer to deal with warranties.

Don't suppose it can hurt for the OP to ask OcUK if they can act on his behalf, would certainly take a hell of a lot of the pain out of dealing with XFX.

E-tailers might try and blow you off simple because they do about everything.
"You can't return an item you've opened"
"I damn well can, it's called DSR"

OCUK's CS has always been good for me, so I can't imagine the OP having an issue.

What you expect going XFX lol?

Where did you buy it from?

Im sorry to tell you but XFX are notorious for RMA

Used a lot of xfx products over the years never had a single issue.
Never had to rma a item back to them so can't say anything there.

Look at all the issues msi cards have had with heat you don't see people says don't go with them.

Ofc u do, i would never go MSI or XFX now, i had 2x MSI 7850s and i can tell u it wasnt just heat issues.

Game is not just software its hardware too, i got a 3DS from there and couldnt take it back.

This is because MSI sorted the matter how it should have been, they came out publicly, explained the issue and how many units were estimated to have the problem followed by a few ways in which you can go forward, iirc it was either remove the cooler and re-apply the TIM or return the card for replacement.

Outside of EVGA & Gigabyte I can't think of too many other partners that would come forward in such a manner (EVGA did this with a bad batch of 670's!).

This is the reason MSI still get recommended, if XFX had a dodgy batch of cards I suspect they'd just duck out of it and let the retailers take the flak.

But the point is they haven't. Like I said had a lot of xfx products and there solid.
Maybe that might change if I had to use there rma but I haven't so I rate them highly.

This is the problem though, once a issue or two crops up it gets blown out of all proportion.

As a rule we only ever hear about the faults/issues.

Just my 2cents

I have only used XFX's ticket system on a 680lt over an issue it had, the response was very swift and resolved-although it varied from responses that were as thick as a Findus meat sourcer to job done depending on what tech you got.

I doubt it 90% of these forums wont buy them!

Just to put this plain, why do you think OCUK stopped stocking their cards? Its not just us who know they are bad!

Wont catch me arguing with that, it just got me to thinking that ive only been Pc gaming maybe 4 year so havnt seen much come and go but have any brands we give props to now ever been in XFX's current shoes,so to speak?

Well at most, it's conjecture, though I agree it's suggestive of why they stopped stocking their cards.

I think the biggest indicator that it could be the case was that they made an announcement a while back that they would be dealing directly with the customer for the entirety of an XFX's card's warranty.

Indeed so they can slap us around!

I hope they go bust tbh i hate companies like this, it makes me sick how they can expect people to pay these prices then tell them to **** off if they break!

Remind be of Sky, they have so many sub contractors its hard to get anything sorted with them if theres a problem, they just pass the buck :\ another company i will NEVER use again.

To be fair, a lot of companies do the very same thing, try to get out of their obligation as much as they can.

It took me nearly 3 months to get my Virgin internet connection installed, for example.
