Coil whine psu?, although my gpu makes a slight whine it's well within tolerable ranges. It's my http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-000-XF&tool=3 psu that makes horrendous noises..

take a look at this link, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C4d23F2jehQ (AT 0.20) now while that psu isn't the same the noises emitted are pretty much the same, it only happens under intensive 3d load...never at idle but it's bloody annoying. So far the new build pc has only really been properly used for few days and the system seems stable but who knows what could happen in the future.

what would you do? the DSR period is gone, should i try rma it?

*sigh* tbh i'm pretty shocked by the quality control of comptuter electronics these days..i'm hearing so many people experience this weather it be their gpu, mobo or psu whining...i wish manufacturers would sort this **** out once and for all.

(Someone Move this thread to general hardware, sorry i'm such a retard)

Hi

I have spoken with XFX for you and if you post in the customer service section of the forums and link back to this thread with your details. We can arrange for a replacement for you.

I had a very similar problem when I got my XFX Black Edition 850w psu, an incredible screeching sound! Hehe, went away after about 5-6 days of constant use and has been great ever since. :)

It's very difficult to detect this sort of thing at manufacture as the noise is caused by a resonance interaction between the switching frequency of the PSU and the graphics card, usually, sometimes the CPU can cause it to make a noise too.

Had an OCZ unit which didn't like my HD4890 and made a tiny whine, nevertheless it was annoying sometimes.

Good luck with your replacement.
