My XP has Messed UP!? Help!

Hey Guys,

Well I turned my PC on this morning and a message appeared saying, Please Check Hardware (or something along the lines of that), and to replace Hal.dll? I replaced hal.dll, and still nothing?

I have no idea what todo,

Sorry if I haven't gone into masses off explanation.

Any idea's?

Is it a new XP installation and do you have another OS on dual boot.

Also is the hard drive a Seagate?

Edit: When you say you replaced Hal.dll, did you do this via the recovery console or in windows itself?

Its not a New installation, and its not a seagate.

I replaced it, by going on my other pc putting my HD in and copying it across.

Now I can't even access my other pc's hd now, let alone the important HD with all my coursework on.

I'm go mad if I cant get my stuff back.. *sighs*
