I used it throughout my property renovation.
Used builders, plumbers, chippy, tiller, door guy and a gardener.
Overall, the builders we used were a joke, really did an awful job and I wish at the time I had a little more experience to realise that they were a bunch of cowboys. They had a good profile, feedback was plenty and all good, photo's of previous work looked good.
Plumber. Interesting. Great value, did a good job, perhaps skipped a few corners with tidying - but as I boxed around there work and plastered, I was able to cover up their shortfalls. Again, good feedback. But wouldn't use again, had to get another plumber to sign off my boiler - despite the original plumbers being gas safe registered.
Chippy. Brilliant, got lucky with this guy, old school, low feedback, met him first and he seemed a decent guy and the little feedback he did have said he was good. Would use again. Perhaps a little rough around the edges, but great value.
UPVC door fiiter. Top lad. Would use again.
Tiller. Bloody expensive. Work OK. He had a lot of 'commercial' work feedback and photo's. Wouldn't use again. £350+material for a days work. Every other tiler was circa that price, but over two days. Was in a desperate situation to get the floor down fast.
Gardner. Turned out to be a fireman after some extra work. Perhaps lacking in expertise, but boy did he make a good job of it. Work rate was second to none, enjoyed he's tea breaks and perhaps leaving a little early at times, but have recommended and would use again, if only to shift stuff.
My takeaway, there seems to be a fair amount of people who are first adopters and making the most of it, that often, from my experience, seem to be lacking a little. Seems that the people I dealt with, were unable to drum up business from other avenues (word of mouth etc), so with this in mind, kind of explains some of the issues I came across.
Next time I renovate, i'll be doing a little more home work and steering clear of any online system. Think these platforms need to mature a little more so it's not just the early adopters that are on there... Just my 2 cents.
