All in the space of a few hours.

I found out today that my Ex-girl friend of two and a half years has a new boyfriend through her myspace profile. This put me in a bit of a bad mood. However, one of my friends from college that I havn't seen for a while just added me to her friends list. We had a bit of a thing in college but for one reason and another never got together. I just gave her a ring and will be meeting up with her next week which has just re-affermed my faith in the world :)
It's funny how life does this to you.

Perhaps its an age thing but letting myspace ruin your life and make it, is something I can't put my head around.

Then again I don't know your scenario

*logs onto myspace, dam no messages :(*

It wasn't exactly the website itself but more the information I gained from it lol.

If I hadn't been on the site I wouldn't have found out about my ex and on the same token I wouldn't have been contacted by the girl from college...

I don't actually spend that much time on it, certainly doesn't run my social life but can still be interesting non the less.

Going slightly OT here, but why do so many people have something against myspace? I signed up to see what the hype was about, it's just a website where you can post a profile and talk/meet other people? It's no different to MSN and i never see people constantly moaning about that.

because it's popular/successful.

ie, the only reason anyone ever moans about anything :p

it could be more stable though.

just heard on the news
myspace have banned adults from contacting kids
(ie anyone over 16 contacting anyone under 16)
if they don't know them in real life, i.e know there real name, and email adress
that can only be a good thing

a 14year old girl is currently sueing (sp?) myspace after she was sexually assulted by a 19yr old guy she met on there

imo
myspace > *
found the most wonderful guy in the world thanks to that site

I ended up going to the cinema at the weekend with a girl I knew at college after finding her on myspace. Granted there was me, her, her boyfriend and my mate, but still, it was a good laugh and we're all going out again sometime soon. Myspace isn't full of wierdos. Although saying that I did get an email saying I had a new message, logged on to myspace to see who it was from, noticed it was a hot girl then I realised that she has no friends and is pimping her *See me live on my cam* site :( She still picked me though ;)

It's not because MySpace is popular or successful, it's because it symbolises everything which is wrong with the Internet. Make of that what you will...

Being able to meet new people and share personal details can lead to good — such as the subject of this thread — but it can also lead to horrible things. In my opinion (value that as you will) social networking, at least in the form of MySpace-like sites, is a fad. Within the next year or so MySpace/Bebo/[Insert name here] will be crucified by the press (the onslaught has already begun) and before you know it the government will be forking out millions on initiatives to make teenagers more aware of the threats they pose. They won't collapse, by any means — after all, they are a breeding ground for hapless teenagers without a care in the world. What will happen, one can only guess :)

MSN doesn't let their users play music and create horrible HTML e-abortions in their profiles, and doesn't have built-in facilities for posing like a **** in photos.

Yeah, heard about that. She certainly deserves the £16.2 million she's suing for.
